    MOVIE: The Hobbit starts production

Of all the people in the movie industry who “get it”, Peter Jackson ranks high on the list.  Not only does he have a love for the medium, and a passion for storytelling, he also understands what fans want, and how to get the viral marketing going by utilizing social media tools, like Facebook.

Production on The Hobbit is now underway, and Jackson is once again posting diary videos on his Facebook page for all to see.  Of course, those videos are embeddable, which means some loyal fan took it upon himself to snag it and post it on YouTube.  Let’s see how long it stays up.

While he may get it, the 48fps and 3D gimmicks being used on this film has me less than thrilled. But then again, I’m old, so what do I know…

I don’t see a need for 3d in this movie. The story is more about character growth and the journey.

I agree, the 3d may and probably wil take away from the story and the story is everything in this movie.

Thanks for linking to this, it’s brilliant! Great to actually see and hear Ken Stott and James Nesbitt in with the old LotR hands too. Definitely done its job of getting me (more) excited for a film that’s years away :D

Whoops, used an incorrect email address. Sorry about filling your “awaiting moderation” queue with that.

        Too excited, obviously!
