Radical Publishing sent Major Spoilers the cover images and solicitation information for titles arriving in March 2010.

Diamond Comic Distributors has announced that this year’s Free Comic Book Day will get its first ever commemorative t-shirt coming directly from Sergio Aragones.
“We wanted to create a unique annual event T-shirt and who better to start with than Sergio?” commented FCBD spokesperson Elissa Lynch. “We think he’s done a beautiful job of capturing the excitement and personalities found in comic shops and on Free Comic Book Day.”
“I’m very proud, of course,” said Sergio about being the first FCBD artist. “The art is not based on any one comic book shop, it is my imagination—it is how I think shops look like, full of young readers, moms, super heroes reading and buying comics.”
Expect the T-Shirt to be available in April 2010.

In addition to Nick Simmons signing for Free Comic Book Day this weekend, Radical Publishing is getting more of their creators in front of the fans to stir interest in its products.
Take the jump for the creator and signing schedule/location list.

Radical Publishing let Major Spoilers know that Nick Simmons, yes, he is related to that Simmons, will be signing copies of Radical 2009, during Free Comic Book Day at Meltdown Comics. Nick’s Incarnate #1 is featured in the collection.
Instead of giving away free physical copies of its offereings, TwoMorrows publishing is giving away complete digital issues of its various magazines for Free Comic Book Day.
From May 1-3, TwoMorrows will be offering free complete digital issues of their various magazines for download, so customers can sample their publications. This limited time offer includes issues of their current magazine line-up:
- ALTER EGO (focusing on Golden and Silver Age comics)
- BACK ISSUE! (celebrating comic books of the 1970s, 1980s, and today)
- THE JACK KIRBY COLLECTOR (documenting the life and career of the “King” of comics)
- DRAW! (the professional “how-to” magazine on comics and cartooning), and
- BRICKJOURNAL (the ultimate resource for Lego enthusiasts)
Also featured are past favorites ROUGH STUFF and WRITE NOW!, which are still available as back issues. Digital Editions normally retail for $2.95-$3.95 per download, but are free over the three-day Free Comic Book Day weekend, to encourage more readers to try them out, and consider ordering them at their local comic book shop.
I like that TwoMorrows is offering up free digital copies, as it gives everyone a chance to check out the future of publishing. And I have purchased BrickJournal many times, and for LEGO fants, it is a must read. All you have to do is log into the site and add the issues to your shopping cart, checkout and enjoy.

Oni Press is a Gold Sponsor of this year’s Free Comic Book Day, which meanss the company has at least one title it is giving away for free.

Mike Raicht, writer of the current Army of Darkness series, has a new book coming out from Th3rd World Studios called The Stuff of Legend, that sounds really good.
The Story was created and penned by Mike Raicht (Army of Darkness) and Brian Smith, with pencils by newcomer Charles Paul Wilson III. Set during the height of World War II in 1944, The Stuff of Legend follows a group of toys on a grand and sometimes frightening adventure into a realm called The Dark to save their master from every child’s worst nightmare — The Boogeyman.
The best part is, the first 20 pages of the book will be available during Free Comic Book Day this weekend. And as a bonus, the creators and writers will be available at various comic book stores signing stuff.

Sometimes I rue the day I left California for the vast wastelands of Western Kansas… Mainly because it means I can’t drive up to Collector’s Paradise in Winnetka, California to participate in the Hero Initiative Benefit Party during Free Comic Book Day 2009. Mark Waid, Editor-in-Chief of Boom! Studios, Marc Guggenheim (AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, GREEN LANTERN movie), Jim Mahfood (GRRL SCOUTS, CLERKS), David Wohl (co-creator of WITCHBLADE, DARKNESS) Mike Kunkel (HEROBEAR AND KID), are among some of the guests scheduled to appear.

Man, I’m so jealous…

I like comic book stores that really get into Free Comic Book Day (Saturday, May 2, 2009). Sure, having a gigantic selection of free comics is a good idea, but those stores that bring in special guests are cranking the event up to the next level. Take Zeus Comics for example; the store not only has ordered 4000 comics but is bringing in some cool guests.
- Scott Kurtz: creator of PVP, Ding!, co-creator and writer of Truth, Justin and The American Way.
- Matt Sturges: writer of House of Mystery, Blue Beetle, and Jack of Fables for DC/Vertigo Comics.
- Kristian Donaldson: co-creator and artist of Supermarket, artist on DMZ, Chuck, and upcoming 99Days.
- James O’Barr: creator of The Crow which was adapted into the hit blockbuster movie.
Zeus Comics will be open from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM and is located at:
4411 Lemmon Ave
Dallas TX, 75219
214-219-TOYS
If I were in Dallas, I’d go…
