When the next installment of the David Tennant Doctor Who series hits the UK on November 15th, some may be surprised by The Doctor’s new sidekick – Gadget.  Yup.  Gadget.  Those of us in the United States, who don’t have access to The Doctor via other means, will have to wait until December 19, 2009 to see the first installment of the last Tennant arc before Matt Smith steps into The Doctor’s shoes.

Doctor Who fans, who are dying to know what the inside of the TARDIS will look like once Matt Smith comes on board, may have an answer in the above image that was snapped on location.  The backdrop is used when the Doctor and crew enter and leave the time and relative dimension in space machine to match with the actual interior set.  I like the gold and reds, and that staircase might make for some interesting moments.  I just wish we could explore the interior of the TARDIS like we got to see back in the day.

“…and the bartender says, ‘What is this, some kinda joke?’”  The downside of being an (essentially) immortal Time Lord is that you tend to gain lots and lots of enemies.  Now, the past has caught up the Tenth Doctor, and he’s been sentenced to life (lives?) in galactic prison, surrounded by the enemies of nearly a dozen lifetimes.  Forget surviving behind bars, at this rate, the Doc’ll be lucky if he makes it through the trip…

A while ago, we asked you, the Major Spoilers Elite to cast your vote on which actor played your favorite Doctor.  Now months later, it appears as if two of those actors are caught in a tie.  We don’t like giving out two first place awards around here, as someone must always be the winner, and someone must always be the loser.  So we’re putting Doctor Who and Doctor Who in cage and asking you once again to cast your vote to decide who lives and who dies (only to be resurrected into the smiling face of Matt Smith).

FIGHT!

Doctor Who, or Doctor Who?

When you read monthly comic books the way that I do, often times you get to the point where you feel like you know what’s coming, when every title feels like you’ve read it before.  On the other hand, you have the odd experience where you read a title or issues that you KNOW you’ve read before, but you cannot for the life of you remember how it’s supposed to end.  With over a hundred monthly titles coming out, sometimes you need to play catchup, you need to go where everybody knows your name to the land of the Rapid Fire Revieeeeewwww!

So, I have completed my daily labors, overseeing the dozen fellers and gals what make up the current workgroup to call themselves Team RamRod (”See, you’re Arkot Ramathorn…  Ram.  And I’m Rodney Farva…  Rod.  Team RamRod!”) and I am preparing to have some spaghetti and hang out with friends, but first I wanted to catch up with some of the many titles that I’ve neglected over the busy last days of August…

DC Comics was honored by the Guinness World Records this past weekend, when it was pointed out that Detective Comics is the longest-running comic book periodical in the United States.  Paul Levitz, DC Comics President and Publisher, accepted the award.

And if you think that is cool news, Doctor Who was also honored as the most successful sci-fi series.

Longevity was another factor, since “Doctor Who” also holds the Guinness record for longest-running sci-fi TV series. A controversy broke out over that record in 2006, and “Stargate SG-1″ later received the record for longest-running consecutive sci-fi series after completing a 10-year run.

Sometimes you just can’t make up this stuff.  The Australian government is looking for a Tardis Operator.  Unfortunately, the government is only paying $65K a year on the low end; I guess the perks of traveling through time and space make up for the chump change salary.  Nowhere in the job description does it say anything about having to be a young cute female, or having to deal with Daleks on a regular basis.  Damn Daleks.

Oh say can you see…
By the dawn’s early light!
What so proudly we hail…
In the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose bright stripes and broad stars,
In the perilous night…
For the ramparts we watched,
uh, da-da-da-da-da-daaaa…
And the rocket’s red glare!
Buncha bombs in the air!
Gave proof to the night!
That we still had our flag!
Oh say does that flag banner wave,
Over a-a-all that’s free!
And the home of the land…
And the land of the – FREE!
