'Ello all, Chad here.

Me? Well... after a many years of a sad, moneyless haitus from comic books, I managed to end up working at the one grocery store within 50 miles that still sold comic books. Sadly, after I started picking up comics there, (strangely we only carried X-men and Scooby Doo there... I ended up picking up the former) I realised that for a collage town, there where no comic shops!

Luckally I've since moved, and found a great comic shop, and found this site!

I tend to be pretty publisher agnostic, I think I have at least one or two titles from most publishers on my pull list, but that said, my top 4 titles are Green Lantern and GL Corps, Kick-Ass, and Deadpool currently.

Hello past and future people,

Finally I made it to the forum Smiley (For some reason I was considered spam :s )

My name is Vincent (AKA Zniv) and I'm from the Netherlands (so my English is sometimes not that good). I've been listening to MSP for about a year now (one of the first I listened to was where was announced that Skrull Brian wouldn't be on anymore IIRC). The site I'm frequenting since the last couple of months.

I have read comics since forever. My dad used to read me Lucky Luke when I wasn't able to read. I grew up with a subscription to the Donald Duck weekly and I've collected a whole lotta Suske en Wiske comics over the years (it's a Dutch/Belgian comic, dunno if it's translated to English).

I collected lots of single issues and TPB of superheroes translated to Dutch over the years.

The last year I've been collecting the dutch run of X-men (where they try to collect storylines from the various variations) and the dutch translations of Naruto and Monster.

The past half year I've "refound" my local comic book store and kinda befriended the comic book guy there Smiley I've been buying Fables trades and several self contained stories or collections from various characters and trying to find series I like. So far I've enjoyed some Hellboy, V for Vendetta, Watchmen, Hush, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (Black Book), Lobster Johnson and some more. I like dark stories and pulp. I'm always looking for more stories (atm I'm waiting for my order of BPRD and Atomic Robo, but the shiping to Europe takes time), but I try not to buy single issues. It happened a lot in the past series I liked were discontinued and I don't like not finished stories.

I have no real preference for a style or genre. American comics/Manga/European comics (strips in dutch, I use that word when talking about European comics Smiley ), I don't really care, as long as I like the story and the art doesn't repel me :p
What else can I tell about me? Not much relevant I guess. Smiley

Hello,
I'm John an american living in the Netherlands (quite a coincidence considering the previous person who wrote here), I only started reading comicbooks since the last year, when I was small I had some reprint of Ninja Turtles and I read a lot of comic strips and whatnot.

I got started on comics with Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E., somehow I got linked to it on the internet thought it looked fun and purchased the whole series, soon after I started following Atomic Robo because I had already been following 8-bit theater online.

Since then I've mainly just been rooting around and based on previews getting what I think I'll like. I've gotten into Proof, the Umbrella Academy (although it's not really going anywhere), Killer of Demons, I kill Giants, Scott Pilgrim, Walking
Dead, Wonderful wizard of Oz. I'm not really into hyper-realistic artwork, and I can't really be bothered to break into anything by the Big 2, I prefer things in mini-series but if it's good I'll read it either way. I've tried several other series that I haven't gotten into, I'm pretty picky about what I'll read, and I prefer the more humorous comic (probably because of my background in the 'funnies' and webcomics) but again I can lean either way.

I usually just buy Trades through Heavy Ink have them sent to relatives in the states who hold onto them. While I'm waiting to go to the states to pick up my copy, I usually will download the books through torrents (.cbr format is just an archive file used by comicbook computer programs), I prefer to have the book in hand, but I can read something multiple times, so I don't mind reading it on the comp as well as in book form. Also shipping costs way too much (especially for a college student).

And that's pretty much it for me.

Hi, I'm The Dude.  But you can call me Dude, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

I'm a big fan of music, comics and movies.  I started collecting comics after reading about "Civil War" in an issue of Wizard Magazine while I was on break at my job.

I'm not a Marvel or DC guy, I'm just a guy who reads what he enjoys.  My favorite characters include Batman, Dick Grayson, Tim Drake, Hawkeye (I won't call him Ronin), Thor, Hal Jordan and Daredevil, but this list changes all the time as I discover new and interesting characters.

Currently reading/will be reading...

DCU
-Batman
-Detective Comics
-Batman & Robin
-Streets of Gotham
-Red Robin
-Gotham City Sirens
-Batgirl
-Action Comics
-Green Lantern
-Wednesday Comics
-Flash: Rebirth
-Blackest Night
-Jonah Hex

Vertigo
-Hellblazer
-Scalped

Dark Horse
-Hellboy
-BPRD
-Usagi Yojimbo
-Fear Agent

Image
-Walking Dead
-Invincible
-Proof

Marvel
-Daredevil

And I read tons of other books in trade.  I have an addiction,  I might need an intervention soon.

New guy on the boards, here!  My name is JK and I live on the mystery isle of Long Island, NY.  I've been listening to the podcast since The X-Men Envy Podcast (#58).

That title drew me into the insanity that is MS since I began reading comics in the early 90s around Uncanny X-Men 300 (oooh...holographic covers are pretty...)  It didn't take me long to really get into X-Men with the (holographic covered!) Phalanx Covenant.  I was collecting all 14,000 X- and X-related titles until medical school when money became tight.  Recently, though, thanks to an actual job (and without the full knowledge of my wife), I've come back to the fold of what I refer lovingly to as "confusing my bank as to why the money in my account diminishes like clockwork every Wednesday".

I've also been getting more and more interested in DC titles, specifically Green Lantern & his buddies in the Corps and LOSH (specifically, their trades).  Read through all of Final Crisis -- still confused.  But DEFINATELY looking forward to Blackest Night.

What I'm reading now:
Marvel - Uncanny X-Men, X-Men Legacy, X-Force, Cable, X-Factor, X-Men Forever, Exiles, Deadpool, New Avengers, Mighty Avengers, Secret Warriors, Ender's Game, Ender's Shadow
DC - Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, Superman, Action Comics, Batman, Detective Comics, Flash, JSA, JLA, Booster Gold, L.E.G.I.O.N.
In Trades - Fables, Jack of Fables, Legion of Super Heroes

Anyway, that's probably enough.  Really enjoy the site and the podcasts -- keep up the lunacy, gentlemen!

Hey everyone... the name's Matt...currently I'm a 17 year old  high school student in New York.
Been listening to the podcast for a while now, have enjoyed it a lot, and finally decided to get involved on these forums here.

I got started in comics with a subscription to Ultimate Spiderman (not sure what year exactly...started somewhere around issue #10) and have been hooked on these things we call comics ever since. Up until the past year we did not have a local comic book shop around here, so I've mostly read TPBs and the like purchased from bookstores. I like to keep up with a good variety in my comics...a bit of Marvel, DC, independents...all sorts of stuff is good for me. Currently I've been reading some collected volumes of The Immortal Iron Fist, The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, and (one of my favorites) Kick-Ass (what can I say...I'm a sucker for violence and explicit language).

Well, I guess that's all for now so....bye

Uh... hey,
I'm Hercules in NY, which is kind of a long name so you can call me H.I.N.Y. if you like.  You've probably seen some of my needlessly wordy rants on the site and heard the sucky praise I've had for the guys on the podcast.  I'm from Melbourne, Australia.  I'm 26.  I've been in Advertising for two years until I quit because it was full of such wankers and bullshit that I couldn't stand it.  I'm now earning half of what I used to, as a cinema manager and projectionist, and I'm twice as happy.  I'm also a musician.  Hercules in NY is actually the name of my band, taken from the Arnie film of course, because the band too is a retro-pastiche of ideosyncracies and pathetic absurdity.

I've been into comics for as long as I can remember, my grandmother used to buy them for me frequently... mostly issues of the Phantom.  I didn't start buying them for myself until early High School.  I think the first comic I ever bought was X-men #26 because it had a cover that just blew me away, with cyclops and captain america on it.

Since then I've followed mostly the x titles with a preference towards X-force.  Don't know why.  Just found that title more entertaining, particularly Adam Pollina's fluid style of artwork.  I read just about anything now and my absolute favorite has been 100 Bullets.  That's just been a perfect run from start to finish.  Not much comes close to that but I love rereading the classics; League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, The Invisibles, Rising Stars, Kingdom Come, TDKR and Sandman to name a few.

For me it's been more about the art.  I can read a poorly written comic with fantastic art, but I can't endure a well-written comic with rubbish artwork.

That's about it... oooh also since I moved in with my fiancee about three years ago now, I don't buy single issues anymore (well, I try not to).  I buy trades... namely because they are cheaper, tidier and easier to sneak through the door under (soon to be) Mrs. Hercules' watchful glare.

Hello, All.
I'm Ocho and I'm new to the message board.

I discovered Major Spoilers recently and, after dry listening to a few episodes, subscribed through iTunes. I've downloaded all available shows. I'm currently up to episode 35. I'm having a great deal of fun listening.

I'm a native of Texas. I'm an Army brat who spent the first 10 years of my life moving from state to state, whereever my father was stationed. During those years I saw my share of "road reading"; Disney comics, Little Archie, Casper the Friendly Ghost, a DC Giant special or two, and an occasional Spider-Man. My life in comics was finally cemented on a trip from California back to Texas. My folks bought me one of the old three-comics-in-one-bag-for-a-dollar sets they used to sell in the 70's. It contained a Fantastic Four, an Avengers, and a Marvel Team Up. These are the first comics I kept. I still have them today, worn and wrinkled with love.

I was a Marvel kid for years until I followed George Perez to the New Teen Titans and DC. I know most fans divide themselves between Marvel and DC, but I'm a monumental fan of both. The 80's led to the discovery of comics shops and many other publishers. The 90's led to a love of independents and self publishers.

OK, now for, why am I here? I'm seeking community. A place where folks gather to talk about comics. Hearing podcasts from all around the country allowed me to know such a place exist. I had started participating with a podcast that sadly is going away. I'm hoping to make a new home here. I'm having a tremendously good time with this podcast. I decided to join the board the day I found out that Stephen is a fan of Buckaroo Banzai and Big Trouble in Little China. I'm also a huge fan of the pre-crisis Legion, so, hats off to Matthew.

So, I'm going to leave on that note. Gotta get back to work. Thanks for letting me in. Looking forward to the future.
Thanks,
Ocho (or Don if you prefer.)
