Something*Positive is my favorite webcomic, and I would love to hear a discussion on it.

So much can be said for this series, great character development (PeeJee and Mike), funny moments(1st strip), and one's that are just heartbreaking (Faye's death and Fred forgetting about Monette over the phone.)

Agreed it is a great comic, my favorite online right now.
I'm not sure it in itself warrants discussion on major spoilers, though I would love to hear them add a webcomics part to their podcast or perhaps do a trade review of a popular comic collection. My vote would be for either Goblins or Girl Genius.

Haven't followed it for awhile. Personally, I'd prefer Sluggy Freelance. It's more comic-book-y and has been around for longer.

Reminds me of least I could Do. At least the first couple of strips. The latest seemed kinda adventuryish. Does the style change somewhere?

I think if any web comic gets a podcast, Otter Disaster should get one first.  Show love for the home team and all...

Well he doesn't have that much stuff, plus I can't really see them being impartial on a review of a guy who is part of the MS team.
I really think it would be a good idea to take a look at some of the more prominent web-comics. I mean it's the only part of the industry that's really growing.

You don't exactly have to be impartial to have a discussion about it.  Yeah we love his stuff but maybe a little bit of "inside Otter's head" would be nice.  Remember, this is just a launching point.

Also, I'm curious as to how you measure growth in that part of the industry.  I'm sure it's not measured in money because I don't know of any web comics that you have to pay for.  (Except for Penny-Arcade tpb's/video games).  Just curious what that statement means exactly...

My bad. I thought you were talking about using Otter Disaster as the main trade review, which I really didn't see how that worked. But as part of a quick segment on webcomics yeah that would be great.

Well if we were to actually break it down statistically (which I won't cause I'm lazy) we would look at the number of new web comics vs the number of new print comics. We would also compare growth in readership of web comics of the past ten years vs the growth in readership of new print comics.
Also we would look at the number of webcomics in the recent year that have managed to become successful enough to be self sustaining for the creators vs the number new print comic titles that have managed to last. We would compare these last stats to the number of comics that currently exist in those categories and also compare it the number that didn't "make it."
It would also be useful to look at hits on google and search trends regarding both regular and web comics. The amount of merch being sold and if it is increasing in either particular arena.

Well, he still owes me ten bucks, so I won't be biased...

Actually, I was going to suggest you guys review the "Girl Genius" TPBs, which are actually collections of Phil and Kaja Foglio's webcomic.

I second that. In fact I already firsted it, so maybe I can third it?
I also think I just saw a trade of Order of the Stick at my store. I would love that too

We were going to do the first trade in our first year of the podcast, but got distracted with other shiny baubles... it is still on the list somewhere, though.
