Female scientists have called for the next Doctor Who to be a woman to help raise the profile of females in science.

Not a bad idea.

As long as she's hot Smiley

Personally If they cast a female actress I would rather is be a older lady. 40+ range first because Women should or shouldn't be cast solely basted on there hotness and there more than few very attractive women in this range. The second reason is that Doctor needs to feel apart from the world is some way, while he cares very deeply for earth he also isn't one of us and I think a younger actress would have more trouble pulling off this aspect of the doctor. That is not to say is can't be done. Third point would be young "hot" women don't seem to trouble finding jobs but older actresses do have trouble finding acting roles be a good president to give on non mother role to a women in this age range.

IF they cast a girl, she will probably be younger than 30 years old. and she will be hot.

they should bring back his daughter/clone from a few episodes ago.

As much as Billie Piper was attractive I just never really cared about her and I really don't want to see someone of that age and build to play the doctor. Now someone like Catherine Tate I would have no problem with, but I highly doubt they will be casting a woman at this point maybe in the future I think after the 13th doctor would be the Ideal time since we really don't know that devise they will use to keep the series going. But stealing lives from another Time Lord would seem most likely from what we have seen in the past.

Hasn't anybody ever heard of Romana?  Plus if you wish to see a living female Time Lord, bring back Jenny.  I personally believe that she would be a better choice since she is an established character.  If they really want girls involved with Science, have Jiil Nye the Science Guy ugh Girl go on the telly.
It is not that I object to a woman being in that position, but I am against doing anything for the sake of "it's about time, or there have been too many white men already.  My wife cringed when I told her of this.  If you think that a female Doctor would be a nice long run, then go for it.  Otherwise don't mess too much with a good formula.

Romana is by fair one of my favorite companions and I think another Time Lord on the show makes the show better. At least is short spurts not lasting more than a few years. I think what the original article wants is for there to be a Female Lead while I agree with there should be more female leads on TV and with good writing which we know Dr. Who has I think they can work with this. I think regardless of sex of the new Time Lord lead the show will still be enjoyably.
