Rachel nods.

"Aye. T'is tough fir t'e bloke but we need be killin' t'e porcupine, not pickin' away quills."

All of you keep looking. Both Red and Damryn vanish, their time to aid you expired, leaving you and your allies alone in the hunt.

Then you alone feel something, Bedlor. It is nothing more than a whisper of a feeling at first. But then you sense a slight tugging, as if if something beckons to your very soul.

Following it you come upon a single, simply marker. You might have expected more for a former Lord Commander of Hallow Hold but perhaps this was by request.

Either way, the marker clearly reads,

Wesley Carrigan
1455-1497

next to a small metal lot pin inscribed with the number 313.

You stand there for a moment, something feeling very familiar. With the different landscape, it takes a moment for it to dawn on you that this grave is located at the same position in the Solemn Rest Cemetery as the grave for the Nexus, Abraham Foster, was in the universe you knew.

Bed begins digging.

"Bedlor, I've been daydreaming of Donovan. Being so near where we first met has my brain not working. Exactly what are we doing?"

"Savin' the world, mate. Savin' the world.

We sent off a bunch to gather others, but only to keep our enemies on their 'eels an' keep the Trust safe once we be findin' it.

An' we be thinkin' it be 'ere, in the grave o' one Wesley Carrigan. Be ringin' any bells, eh? So be keepin' eyes out or start diggin'."

Tren looks around and shrugs.

"I'll do it. I'll kill him. Leave your men here if you want. I want to be the hand that ends him."

Blackthere, you believe, smiles beneath his mask.

"That is the sort of zeal that makes for an agent of Dark Tomorrow... Very well then. You and my two men wait for us to return."

"You. Hobgoblin. Come with us."

Kofi blinks and then nods.

"Yes, Kuther. You take care of this. Me meet you soon."

He and Dark Tomorrow exit the manor with Blackthere, leaving you alone with Gerald Mackey, Peter Carrigan, and the two agents of Dark Tomorrow. The agents drag Mackey into the office and flung him forcibly to the floor.

They stand back, waiting for you to do the deed.

Bedlor, Liv, Rachel, and T'Ning, you all start quickly digging at the grave of Wesley Carrigan. With nothing more than your blades and hands, you scoop dirt again and again away from the grave.

You have been digging for some ten minutes when Aerik signals you from the top of the hill. Someone is approaching from Carrigan Manor and it is not Tren.

Coincidentally, and in exceedingly untimely fashion, Chestnut chatters at you from a nearby headstone as she hops onto it. Following her gaze, you can see Lord Enghart and some of the Luminators entering the cemetery gate. They have not yet seen you but, seeing that a couple of them are carrying shovels, you can guess their intention to be the same as your own.

"Keep diggin'! Any magic users be settin' up to bring down some 'urtin' if'n ye be able. Maybe we can be buyin' some time if'n we can be gettin' our two enemies to be thinkin' the other be startin' a fight."

Bedlor regards Chestnut and with a smile and beckons the squirrel to climb aboard his shirt.

"Tren be 'avin' some strong competition in that whole spy job, my little friend. Ye earned yerself the lunch we be gettin' if'n we be makin' it out o' 'ere 'live. 'Ere, quick, stay 'idden. Ye may still be needed to spy an' ye must be secret an' safe."

Chestnut, proud of herself, scurries into your jacket. Moira and Aldina ready themselves to cast spells at a moment's notice while the rest of your party digs furiously.

As Lord Commander Enghart and his Luminators begin crossing the grounds, one of the men points to the crest of the hill. More conspicuous than you because of their silhouette against the hilltop, you see Monks of the Lone Pine appear. Neither group has yet seen you.

Though you know them to be the men of Dark Tomorrow, the Luminators appear to believe them to be refugees from the war-torn east. The golden knights stop and wait as the monks hail them in a friendly manner, making their way down the hillside toward them.

Meanwhile, as Damryn and Red vanish as their time with you expires, the rest of you dig quickly. You feel a calling, buried beneath this earth, and you intend to heed it.

Tren takes a deep breath and stares at Carrigan for a moment.

He removes his bow and loads an arrow.

"Look at my eyes Carrigan. Look at your death coming."

Gerald Mackey shudders and looks at you.

"Please don't kill us! We haven't done anything!"

But Peter Carrigan meets your gaze with a strength you have only seen in great warriors, and perhaps in men with nothing to lose.

"Don't plead to the likes of this one, Gerald. He doesn't deserve our fear."

"Go on then, assassin. You and your masked thug are the only weak one here."

Tren winks in his general direction.

"Weak maybe. But we will see."

Tren in one swift motion drops the bow and arrow and flings two daggers at the dark tomorrow agents.

Lord Commander Enghart sees the supposed Monks of the Lone Pine. He hails them, while looking a bit nervous over the shovels carried by his Luminators. The Monks cut an angle over the hill toward them, farther now away from you.

You and your party continue to dig feverishly, hoping to uncover whatever lies below before someone notices the heaping mounds of fresh earth now appearing all around you from your efforts.

The monks and Luminators begin a discourse some distance away, near the front gate. They are too far away for you to hear their exchange.
