So I was reading the newest Teen Titans book and it brought a question to mind. Basically, there is a scene where Kid Flash, I assume, is running at fast speed, and he says something to Timber Wolf, who replies (Approx pg 5). Now, its no conversation by any means, and it doesn't bother me it just makes me curious, if he is moving at super speed, how is he able to talk, listen to a response, and reply to someone who is normal speed? Wouldn't he be gone by then? I would by that he can move fast but talk slow enough to understand, its more the fact they have a back and forth that I wonder about. And maybe it was implied that he did slow down during the scene, but does that mean he could have a conversation at super speed?

Like I said its just a curiosity I had, one of those things that I can ignore easily but is interesting to wonder about. So with that in mind, any interesting theories/DC factual explanations?

I don't know if it has ever been addressed in the comics, but the Flash talking has always bothered me as well.  He often moves faster than the speed of sound, yet we get lots of situations like the one you described.  Suspension of disbelief is required here I guess...

In this particular instance, not in any other mind you, Kid Flash gets his new suit from Red Robin so there may, in theory, be some sort of walkie-talkie (is that what they still call those?) in the suit that allows this.

But in a world where men are made of steel and fly and invisible planes abound, this isn't a very tough suspension of disbelief, as Otter suggested.

Yeah, its not something that ruins the story or anything, it was more like watching an action movie and wondering "Do you think someone could really flip a car like that?" or something, a curiousity. In that issue they even set up a telepathic mind connection network, or whatever it was actually called, which I think would have explained it better, but it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.

Its good to know I'm not the only one who wonders things like that though.

Some of the main Flash's issues seem to employ what seems kinda like a use of the Doppler Effect.  He zips by Batman or whomever and you read/"hear" a two-three word snatch of dialogue and then he zips by again and finishes his statement.  That could account for some occasions but yeah, the times where they're going through full monologues and one's not dragging the other in the conversation it is a little weird.

I do kinda wish though for Kid Flash that it'd be a Doppler thing at first but he doesn't realize and every time he zips back by he's way further into his statement/story and they yell at him to slow down so they can understand him or have Robin drop some tech in his outfit that will transmit and slow down his speech to where they can understand him.
