Just listened to the latest issue of Major Spoilers, and the question about super sentais got me thinking.  What's everyone's favorite super sentai series, or, if/and you watch Power Rangers, what's your favorite PR series?  For me, I've seen most of the PR series', but only one super sentai series, two if you include the few episodes of Go-Busters that are currently out.  For PR, I'd have to say that, even though I started way back with the original MMPR, Mystic Force is one of my favorites.  The whole, magic instead of alien/future tech was different, and refreshing.

I've seen pretty much most of the different PR series, like I said, with I think Operation Overdrive the only one I haven't seen even a single episode of.  I've been told to avoid that one.  As for super sentai, the only series I've seen is the second latest one, Gokaiger.  Really, really enjoyed that one.  Each episode got me more and more hyped for the next one, and I was incredibly sad when it finally ended.  But I guess 51 episodes and three movies is a good run for a series.  Some of the stuff made me facepalm, with how silly it was.  Especially the Christmas Episode.  Ikari Gai is the biggest super sentai otaku ever.

Operation Overdrive isn't awful, but I mostly remember it as the season with the Retro team led by Adam as Mastodon Black Ranger.

I have to say that my favorite American season is probably Dino Thunder, and my favorite Super Sentai (Japanese team) changes back and forth.  My daughter and I are currently fans of JAKQ, as Big One is her favorite Ranger of ever, but I've got a soft spot for Jetman (cause it's like Battle of The Planets), for Dynaman (the first Sentai I ever encountered, albeit dubbed), Battle Fever (which I caught for the Captain America links years ago), and Zyuranger.  Gokaiger is pretty awesome, especially the big "Every Damned Ranger Ever" battle sequences...

I did like the fight sequences where they would use multiple past sentais.  The series ending was especially awesome, breaking out a member of every single team one by one.  I also liked how the incorporated the 'Ultimate Powers' of the past sentai teams, and the effects they had on Gokaioh.  Though, I think once the Gokaigers unlocked their own ultimate power, and fused Gokaioh, Gozyujin, and Machalcon into the Ultimate Gokaioh, or whatever it was called, can't remember, the end result was just, I dunno, too unwieldy, I guess?  I guess I just feel like they could have come up with something better.

Dekaranger has been my favorite Super Sentai series for a few years, although Gokaiger is looking to replace it with it's inclusion of every series into one multiverse (they were all separate before, with only a few actually being connected and the crossover movies took place outside of continuity) as well as crossing over with Metal Heroes and Kamen Rider (I really need to get the Kamen Rider Ranger Keys for my Mobirate toy).  But Dekaranger still holds a place in my heart just because I still like it so much.  Jetman is also up there, since it's just chock full of awesome.

I'm also interested in the new "unofficial" series Akibaranger ever since I saw that they will have many Super Sentai Legends appearing in character somehow despite it essentially taking place in a world like ours where it's all a TV show (there is an image of Ban from Dekaranger in his uniform with the red Akibaranger over on The Morphing Grid).

I did enjoy Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as a kid, and I still watch old episodes from time to time (how my VHS tapes have held up this long I'll never know).  I also enjoyed Time Force (that was also my late partner's favorite series), SPD (but not as much as Dekaranger, but it's not too bad) and I kinda liked Dino Thunder (not just for Tommy returning, but there were several nods to Super Sentai through the series).

I haven't really watched Samurai much, but I'm immensely pleased that Bulk is back if for no other reason than it ties together both of Saban's first seasons (the original and the first new series/season since they got the rights back from Disney).  Skull will apparently return for a few episodes as well, so I'm hoping to see them once it's confirmed which episodes those are.

Gokaiger is my hands-down favorite at the moment, but beyond that I enjoy Dairanger and Jetman a whole lot. One thing I really wish I could get ahold of is the entire Space Sheriff Gavan with English subtitles. Kenji Ohba > *

As far as PR, I'd say Zeo is my favorite because after that it just has the stink of Justin all over it.
