{Faerun went with Jett's party. He seemed swayed by the Prophesy, he said. But, as it has always been thought to apply equally, at least, to the party you now attend, it seems more likely he was hurt by Moira's recent attitude and wanted away from her.}

The area north of Enghart has no established name but is often called the Grey Wastes.

"Aye, wise indeed, ye be, my new friend. The fish o' the pond be weak in the eye that measures the same as a tiger in its 'unt. We all be 'avin' our own path to walk, mate.

The soul be the most powerful o' all gifts, cat. Aye, it be leadin' some to evil, as ye be sayin', but sure'n ye see the beauty o' such a thing. Sure'n to be 'avin' such beauty in the world, as that o' Pandia's doin', there must be a balance. From the ashes o' lightnin's fire grows the flowers o' spring, same as the doin's o' 'em who seek good always be risin' no matter what others seek. Though sure'n a forest can be growin' out o' control an' needin' a good blaze from time to time.

But ye speak o' gods as if they be bees buzzin' 'bout or men, or wolf, or e'en tiger, yet ye speak o' their ways wit' the weaving. Sure'n ye see that it be the weavin' that guides us all, an' we all be knittin' that bit thread that be our lives. Others be knittin' it 'long wit' us as we travel. I be tying knots on yer thread since we be meetin', same as ye be doin' to me own thread; same for the all o' 'em we be meetin' an' sharin' our lives wit'. The thinkin' o' it be makin' me mind feel a peace it be 'ard to be puttin' words to.

But gods be 'avin' more power o'er that weavin' an' those threads than others. Pullin' an' twistin' threads as they be seein' fit, to what ends? Their fun an' good times, that be what ends. Gods be more trouble than they be worth, mate. World be better of wit' the lot o' 'em locked away by my seein', yet we be aimed at freein' more. More that be e'en more powerful at that. Sure'n the world be doin' nothin' but tradin' one god for 'nother. What be changin' from that?"

Perhaps surprisingly, St. Caelun nods in agreement.

"What indeed."

"So the other fissure... let me guess... it is in the Grey Wastes?"

St. Caelun turns to look at you, chewing lightly on his tongue.

"Not at all. Why would one be in the Grey Wastes? That land to my knowing is untouched by any race."

"In the other history there were two fissures. In Forest Falls, and in the place corresponding to the Grey Wastes."

"Where, then?"

St. Caelun shakes his head a little.

"It was deep in the Forest of Ages. A temple there in a place called Dalophor."

"But the residual energy of the rift has moved several times since then. Impossibly, it appears first one place only to vanish and instantly appear in another."

"Aye, that place don't sit still in any universe.

An' ye can sense it at will, Saint? Where be it now?"

St. Caelun grumbles.

"No. Dalophor remains within the Forest of Ages."

"Sacred temple to Sashca, it is said to hold wayward souls. What else would one expect of the Goddess of Death and Communion?"

"But something came through a rift in Dalophor. Now it has moved freely about Ashearea."

St. Caelun grumbles.

"No. Not hidden. I simply do not know and do not like to speak of things I do not know."

"A rift appeared in Dalophor a few months ago. Something...or someone...came through that rift."

"The rift seems to have closed but whatever came through it has been on the move ever since. To Oak Haven. To the Vaadjori Plains. To the southern regions in the lands of goblins and giants."

"I do not know what it is. I do not know its origin or purpose. I cannot always sense it, unless it is traveling. But it traveled yesterday..."

"To Forest Falls. It appeared briefly in the southern region then in Forest Falls before disappearing again."

"Yesterday I sensed a rift, similar to the one associated with this thing, presumably when you arrived. Your rift was followed almost immediately by a different sort of rift I have never seen but in the same location."

"Then, an hour later, the rift of which you speak appeared suddenly in the south before reappearing just outside of Forest Falls."

Saint Caelun licks his lips and stares at you. He replies, restating himself as if to a student.

"There was a rift in Forest Falls yesterday when you appeared. It was followed by another rift, but of a different sort, immediately after. It was in the same location as yours but the energy of it was different."

"I am saying there was a rift, with the same energy signature as yours, that appeared in Dalophor a couple of months ago. I have sensed that same energy a few times since, as whatever came through seems to be moving quickly from one place to another."

"It left Dalophor not long after it arrived and went to the Vaadjori Plains. It was there for a time but then appeared in the goblin lands to the south."

"I did not detect it again until yesterday. It suddenly appeared again in the goblin lands before vanishing from there and reappearing just outside Forest Falls."

"I have not detected it since. Do you understand what I am saying?"

"Aye, but 'ow, mate? What gives ye this sense o' knowin' that be kept from all others?

An' ye say this that ye feel be bouncin' all 'bout the world...same as Faerun be doin' once upon a time, yet we been told that none be able to be doin' as much in this world for reasons still 'idden from me."

The tiger replies.

"I do not fight the World Spirit but allow it to move through me and I through it. I do not see myself asseparate from it so perhaps I am more in tune with its resonance in me."

"I am not the only one who has achieved this state. Summerayne and Aracil Starborn, as well as Pandia herself of course, can feel such things."
