Agreed, Kiera Knightly in every scene would have been...wait that's not what you meant Wink
Knightly's cleavage is the best CGI in the whole POTC series.

lol Yeah, the girl has nothing going there. But she has much presence and beauty with no cgi required.

I remember Kiera getting upset once about first seeing her PotC action figure. It was fairly buxom and she balked at it, exclaiming something along the lines of "But I have no tits!"

Hilarious! Made me love her even more.

I'm gonna keep this short. I've seen Avengers, twice, and it is wicked awesome. I liked the other Marvel movies, quite a bit, with Iron Man being my favorite...but Avengers is better. Funny, dramatic, explodey and tense. With Ruffalo's Banner and Hulk being the show stealer.
Look at it this way: Iron Men, Cap, Hulk and Thor essentially served as 10 hours worth of a trailer for this movie, and I think it lives up to it. If you liked ANY of the Marvel Movie Universe, then you will love this.
For more detailed thoughts go to https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cat-Halo-Movies/252936541426409, where you can also read my thoughts on all the previous MArvel movies, and answer a few fun polls, including which movie franchise is your favorite.

I think this was a great 100th post for you. Congrats! You'll pass my post count any day now.  Tongue

I can't wait to see this movie!

My avatar might be a clue as to my love of Cap. Does he come across well here?

I'd heard someone say he's likable, with some slightly corny dialog (which would fit his "out of time" persona), but that it wasn't really apparent what would make him such an exceptional leader for a team this diverse and powerful.

Without spoilering me too much, your thoughts on this?

Thanks. I hadn't noticed it was my 100th. I'll be quite some time trying to surpass your post count though Tongue

Cap, along with everyone else, comes off very well. His dialogue is a little stilted, but as you said it is intended to be that way.
There are two scenes that come to mind where his commanding presence is displayed. One with a pair of NYPD cops, and one where he is deferred to for a strategy by the team. They don't harp on about him being the leader... He just is. And it works best that way.

That dwarf is dangerous!

"You know the definition of a leader? Someone who gets other people killed."  Grin

I am actually glad to hear that Cap is someone who naturally leads without having to declare it or receive a company name tag. Those are the real leaders; those who simply inspire others to be their best and work as a team for the good of all.

Also: Joss Whedon is a god.  Cool

I saw American Reunion yesterday, having rewatched each of the theatrical Pies over the course of the weekend. You can read my thoughts on them all four of them at Cat Halo Movies on FaceBook (https://t.co/D0qutpy2), in short it's okay but not great.
However, it made something occur to me... I've pretty much grown up with the American Pie kids. I was in my first year in college when Pie 1 came out, so a lot of their angst rang true for me. Or at least it was a fresh memory.
When 2 came out I had just moved out of my family place and in to Dublin, so their need to party all summer in that movie was echoing my need to party ALL YEAR.
And while the Wedding came a few years before my own, watching that movie now does bring me back to my day. There weren't as many ridiculous sex-capades and gross shenanigans, but the interaction with the friends also rings true.
Now, with the Reunion it really hits home. Jim's Mom <SPOLIERS> is dead, and some of his conversations with his Dad are the EXACT same as those I've had with my Dad (my Mum died 12 years ago this coming weekend). The marital issues between Jim and Michelle, the strugglin to come to terms with the new generation of teens, and everything these characters, my peers, go through all have a seed of truth. And while the movies aren't as good as I remember them being, it is still like hanging out with friends.
So...this is a long-winded way of asking, what movies or characters do you find yourself really identifying with? Be it because you saw them at a pivotal time, or because you've been through something similar, or whatever...

As The Avengers charge towards the billion dollar mark worldwide a thought occurred to me. So, over on my FaceySpace page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cat-Halo-Movies/252936541426409) this week's poll is: Of the most successful movies ever made, worldwide and adjusted, which are your favorites?
When i was looking through Box Office Mojo I noticed how many movies have made a billion dollars worldwide. Worldwide there are 11. Adjusted for ticket price inflation in the US there are an additional 6, some of which are surprising but all of which are classics. It is the new 11 that intrigue me. They are comprised of 2 Cameron movies, 3 Depps, a Potter, living toys, a hobbit, The Force and Batman.
Titanic broke the billion barrier in 97, and it took another six years before ROTK did it. Now it happens every year. Three of the eleven were released last year, including one of the worst movies I've seen...how can Transformers: Dark of the Moon have made $1.123 Billion worldwide. It's terrible. But it is the fourth most successful movie ever. Not cool. I know 3D ticket price is an issue, but how can such average movies do so well?
Thoughts? And which is your favorite? Cast your vote of at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cat-Halo-Movies/252936541426409

The Avengers has just joined the Billion Dollar Club, and now ranks as the worldwide 11th highest grossing movie of all time, just ahead of The Dark Knight...and it is only gonna climb even higher Smiley
It's funny how I, as with a lot of our peers, feel a sense of pride that "our" movie has been such a success.

With Prometheus opening this weekend, the following week in the US, my wife (who loves the Alien  movies like I love Star Wars) and I have begun Alien Week. The real Alien movies will be viewed and reviewed Monday to Thursday, and while she's out on Friday I'll try watch the two AVP movies (which she FLAT OUT REFUSES to watch), and maybe even Pitch Black (which started life as an Alien 3 script). And we'll be seeing Prometheus on Ireland's largest screen, in 3D, on Saturday.
This is the franchise that was voted as the best movie franchise ever by the readers of my FaceBook page. The original is a great horror movie, while the second is a great action movie. The next two are quite messy and uneven though. And the least said about the Vs movies the better. What are the thoughts of the Spoilerites? And how psyched are people for Prometheus?

Over the past few days I've watched each of the Spidey flicks. The new one is pretty darn good, and is a noticeable change in direction and sstyle to the three Raimi ones (reviews for each of which can be found at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cat-Halo-Movies/252936541426409 ).
Unfortunately it's Spider-Man 3 that sticks with me though. I LOVED Spidey 2, but three is just so bad, or more accurately such a missed opportunity, that it leaves a bigger mark in my memory.
But how bad is it. Is it as bad as Batman and Robin? Or X-Men: Last Stand? It's a bigger failure, but not necessarily worse. X3 was riddles with strife, so when RAtner took over expectations plummeted. And Supes 4 was just cheep and lame. Spidey 3 could've been really good. VEnom ahd potential. Topher and Church had potential. Instead we get two dance numbers, emo Peter, and Dunst singing. Shame.
Which are your biggest comic-book let downs? Green Lantern? The Spirit?

Yeah, Spidey 3 could have taken us to so many fun places and it just tried too damned hard to take us to ALL the places they could, leaving us wanting more of everything they gave because they couldn't give it to us right, which left us with shit. What a disappointment!

Prolly the biggest if I really thought about it.

I will call out the 3rd Blade movie. Although the first two weren't stellar, they had me sold for the third one, and I remember feeling let down immensely.

I agree. While I did like the first two, particularly the second one for it's bizarre style and new vampires, the third one really was just a dire pile of poop.

I was sad that Blade 3 was so poor considering the first two were highly enjoyable on different levels to me.  And I think they had the start of a good idea for Blade 3, but they just went about it all wrong.

Spiderman 3 bothers me quite a bit too, the reasons you've listed being among them.

And so it is. The countdown is on. Seven days til The Dark Knight Rises. Psyched.
And for the next seven days I, along with my beloved wife and beliked friends, will be living it up in Spain. So I'll miss the Major Spoilers countdown. But I had my own. I watched all the modern movies over the past few weeks, and will be sharing those thoughts on my FaceBook page over the course of the week ( https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cat-Halo-Movies/252936541426409 ), and I've decided to include The Shadow, because the comic helped inspire the Bat book, and in turn the Bat movies inspired the Shadow flick.
But which are your favorite Bat movies?
I was 10 when Batman came out, and for YEARS it was an all time favorite movie of mine. But with the Nolan era wrapping up it's hard to compare it to his movies. Batman Begins is damn near perfect. Dark Knight has Ledgers performance, which trumps anything in Begins, but I still prefer the origin tale. But there will be more detailed thoughts as the week continues.
But, as I asked earlier, which are YOUR favorite Bat movies, and why?
And now I go to my cab, to go to the Airport. Enjoy Bat-Week, and Dark Knight Rises at the end of it, and don't forget to check out, and "Like" Cat Halo Movies on FaceBook Smiley
