Hey guys I posted this on the forum for my online game and I thought it may be useful to some people who are new into Roleplaying..If you want to throw up other suggestions feel free.

Having a hard time figuring out a personality for your characters?

Tips...First look at your ability scores

Strength: You're very physical and strong and that is probably something that has played into your life. Or if it's low that is something that have had to work around in your life.

Constitution: This is your endurance your stamina, if you can take a hit or you go down quick. Can you run for a long time? Is it low? Perhaps fighting takes a lot out of you.

Dexterity: You're very quick on your feet, you have good hand to eye coordination. If its low maybe your clumsy and you stumble around a lot.

Intelligence: This is pure academic knowledge. You have been trained by universities or mage schools. You have much knowledge of things like history.

Wisdom: This is common sense, street smarts, logic. You can read people, know what they are going to do, guess peoples true intentions. If this is low you may be a bit naïve and trusting.

Charisma: This is how well you interact people. Maybe you can charm or lie your butt off. Or perhaps you’re very socially awkward.

Next look at what skills you choice to train in.
Examples:
If your trained in thievery you probably do not have too many moral scruples about stealing.

If you're trained in arcana you most likely went to some kind of arcane training. Whether this was from a lone wizard in a cabin up in the woods, or a grand magical university.

Endurance? Maybe you used to be a runner. You might have been a street urchin message runner as a child Perhaps you were once a soldier, or a tavern brawler. And you can take a hit.

Dungeoneering? You spent much time adventuring in the past. Whether it was the city sewers or mountain caves.

Nature? You spent much time outside at one point. Maybe your father was a hunter, or you lived in a logging camp as a child.

You can take the mechanical aspects of your character and use them to form the personality and a past.

Another strong point would be to account for your alignment (the traditional 9), and how other characters match.

Here are some example fictional characters-

Lawful Good: Optimus Prime, Jedi Master Yoda, Seven Owls Wise
Neutral Good: Cloud Strife, Harry Potter, Randus Duthaine
Chaotic Good: Ichigo Kurosaki, Wolverine, Ket Hasard (cause you KNOW he ain't Lawful Tongue)

Lawful Neutral: Torq
True Neutral: Commander Shepard, Orem Rivendorn
Chaotic Neutral: Hulk, Grimlock, A Manner of Sorts

(^,v I can't recall many Neutral characters -_-')

Lawful Evil: Darth Vader, The Prophet of Truth, Asmodeus
Neutral Evil: Tiamat
Chaotic Evil: Megatron, The Joker, Gruumsh

You give me Dragons, I'll give you Dungeons.
