This is my second PbP experience and the second that's ended prematurely.

It is absolutely essential to have a DM who remains dedicated to the game. And that's no statement against Tondi, as I know how much commitment it can take.

Over the course of Shadow War I have:

Gone through a divorce.
Had two court hearings (over other things).
Refinanced my house.
Lost my job.
Started my own company from scratch.
Lost my former company car and had to suddenly find a new vehicle.
Gone through two romantic relationships, both now ended.
Dealt with the MS server crash (losing an entire section of the game forever).
Had at least four players go through the trouble of starting the game; then quit.
Lost the player who first talked me into DMing the game in the first place.
Lost two more of my original players due to their real life getting in the way (as it does for DMs as well).
Picked up a new solid player late in the campaign.
Had the entire campaign turned upside down when one of the players altered the entire timeline of everything that had happened before...then quit playing.
And some days I was simply tired.

Life will always happen until you're dead. But I'm still DMing and have been since February 14, 2010.

So, whoever steps up to the plate, I won't wish you luck because that isn't what it takes. It takes devotion and a true love for what you are creating along with your players.

I know at this point I am too burnt out to immediately pick up another DM assignment. But the rewards far outstrip the demands and I hope someone with skill and passion gets something off the ground for everyone soon.

Whoa, he's a busy guy.  But yes DMing takes a lot out of you.  And there are negative for doing it over the Internet.  But there are also positives.  Eitherway it's a lot of work.  I've had to drop my three online games to one.  I run other games on other sites.

For the people dying for a game, let me know via PM.  I don't want to take away from the traffic here but if your desperate for a game I'll see what I can do.

Also thanks for all the well wishes.

Rumor is that Strifeter wants to run a game after he's finished playing in Shadow War.

I could go two ways with that campaign. I could either end it, probably in the next month and with the characters at 18th level or so, or I could add another arc that would take them to 20th but would add months to the game.

I feel in some ways the campaign has coming to a reasonable conclusion so, now that I only have two players left, I am considering wrapping it up soon. So, just throwing that out there.

You guys play 3.5 don't you?  If you have two player would you consider add some of the guys from this game?  Although if it is 3.5 not sure if they'd want in.

I would love to have a fuller roster of players. But there is so little left of the Shadow War campaign I don't think there's any point for a new player to start.

I do definitely hope a new game gets started here soon though because I'd like for all interested people to get to play. I don't have any problem with Strifeter starting a game whenever he wants if he turns out to be the new DM.

I am going to start up an interest thread by the end of this week for my game. Get some ideas flowing start-up characters going and the rest.

I will warn everyone in advance though. I don't really want to start the actual game until shadow war is done. My wife is going to be having our second child soon and I really only have the time for one game.

Congrats again on your second child, Strifeter.

As for Shadow War, I never know where a game will go. That is up to the players.

But it is currently positioned that it could start into the finale unless someone's actions take it in an unexpected direction. Even so, we are probably looking at a month (maybe two) for it to conclude at the current posting rate.

Another possibility would be for someone to run a short adventure module instead of trying to do an entire campaign. It would give everyone a chance to play, at least until Strifeter is free to DM his game, but doesn't require any long term commitment from anyone (including the DM).

Anyone have any suggetions for this.

I mean another option would be to do a round table DM session. As in we are a guild of adventurers and when people want to take a short adventure they can as a DM and the other guild-mates would be the players.

I would be more than willing to do this.

I considered that option. But a revolving DM role wouldn't allow for a good plot, in my opinion, as any given DM would either know too much or too little.

So, how are all you guys holding up? Waiting on someone to start up a new game here?

I'm still trying to wrap up Shadow War to free up some players and/or DM.
