I took another look at it and I was incorrect.  The stat blocks for the hybrid classes are deceptive...and stupid.

Looks like you can only use chain and a lt shield until you take a feat.  It's only a +1 to AC difference.

Also it looks like it doesn't matter which order the classes are in at 3 you have to take a fighter and 5 a bard.  What's the deal with that?

Hybrids require a minimum of 1 Encounter Power, 1 Daily Power, and 1 Utility Power from each of their classes. Once you have that you can then choose strictly from one half or balance out as you see fit. Strifeter right now has a Bard Encounter power and a Fighter Daily power; at the respective levels, he'll have to take the opposite class's powers, then at Level 7 and 9 he can choose either Bard OR Fighter.

It so the powers are balanced I believe. I'll fix up the character now so that it's all correct. I thinking having an additional one to armour for me is more important than a plus 1 to hit. I will switch up my featsand powers and repost.

I don't think you need to change anything because unless you want to looses you familiar you'll have to wait till the next feat anyway.  You'll be right.

/nod in agreement with Tondi-

There is also the old, plain-jane Shield Proficiency: Heavy Shield, which would allow you to then focus on one of the other Hybrid Talent options later. Just remember that Heavy Shields put another -1 to your physical based skills, so chainmail and heavy shield put a -2 into Athletics, Acrobatics, Endurance, Stealth, and Theivery, which is then mildly counter-acted by the Bard's "+1 to all untrained skills"... Sad

Considering it does not appear as if we are getting anyone else. Hopefully it starts soon.

I'll hop in if there's still openings.  I'll build my character tomorrow... its the middle of the night for me at the moment.

====== End ======

Settlement Role: Scout
At home in the wilds, possibly more so than he would freely admit, Briccys revels in his job as scout for the settlements.

Personality
Appearing guarded and withdrawn to the casual observer, Briccys is generally a man of few words, content to let others fill the air with wasteful chatter, watching all and hearing all, waiting for the proper moment to speak his piece. Beneath the guarded exterior lies a man who is fiercely proud of his people and his heritage and who would stop at nothing to defend the livelihoods of those he holds dear.

Appearance
5'8" in height, Briccys looks more like a well-groomed bear than a man of the settlements. Thick orange hair covers his body whilst a full beard hides most of his features, only his bright blue eyes piercing the auburn shroud. A man of simple tastes and few possessions he spends as much time in his wild jaguar form as he does his natural human one, preferring the sense of empowerment and freedom he gets whilst transformed, stalking the lands on the lookout for resources, supplies, friends and foes alike.

If it would fit the party better I could re-skin him as a shaman, kind of fits the concept either way, just coming at it from a different direction Smiley
