Something wacky this way comes

Hey folks:

Just curious if any spoilerites will be getting this new-fangled MMO come December?

I've been doing various beta's for the better part of the last few months and have to say that I'm very impressed. If anybody is interested in forming a guild, many friends and I will be congregating on the Whitebeam Run server. This may be a good opportunity for someone on the fence to have some folks to play with right out the door.

Also, let's get the gripes out of the way: WOW CLONE WOW CLONE WOW CLONE!!!! In a market with a single dominating force, it is fiscally responsible to take everything you can from that force and make it your own. So yes, it's " WOW in spaaaaaaceee!" but it's also so much more. It's filled with lore, and significant character/story/world interactions that you cannot find elsewhere. Thanks to borrowing what works from WOW the framework is familiar and jumping in is easy for veteran MMO players and new players alike.

The simple argument of "why don't I just play WoW?" is easily answered with "Sure, if you just want an MMO, go play WoW. But if you're looking for a Star Wars experience, then this is a great world to play around in."

Easy answer is: "Because its FREAKING STAR WARS, DUDE!!"

But, sorry no. I have an addicting personality when it comes to MMOs. Which makes me great at the game, but RL tends to suffer Smiley

Its a no from me as well, having played a bunch in the Beta its exactly what I thought it would be, and that's not what I want.
Its not even the cosmetic things, even though the UI does suck and they don't even try to hide the grind quests, its the overall experience; its KOTOR with more people, and I know that 99% of the multiverse think that's a good thing, but its not for me Smiley

I think pre CU SWG has ruined all other MMO's for me to be honest.

Probably will play it, but hopefully it will be a Christmas gift.  Not in on the Beta unfortunately.

I pre-ordered the Collectors Edition (or rather, it was preordered for my birthday).  But it looks like I won't be getting the pre-order crystal because GameStop is idiots and I didn't have the means to order online.   But I'm okay with that as long as I get my other cool stuff.

I don't really see it so much as a WoW clone as people say, but that could be because I'm looking less at game mechanics and more at the setting.  And I absolutely love the cutscenes (even if I can't fully understand all of them because of my hearing loss).

I've done two beta weekends and other than a bajillion players in the same area, I had a lot of fun so far.  I may be a huge Star Wars fanatic, but name brand alone isn't enough to keep me playing (there are plenty of older Star Wars games I won't play because I found them boring or lacking).  So I'm glad it's fun for me.  Let the haters hate, I enjoyed it so far and probably will for a while.

Two years ago, when they first teased this MMO with the "Deception" Trailer at E3 2008, I swore to myself that I would play it.

I have neither the money, the hardware, nor the internet heccessary to play such a fantastic looking game. It brings me to tears...

A couple of my friends here play it...  It looks pretty cool, but I can't justify dropping $150/year, plus the amount of time it will consume right now.  Besides, I don't know if I want to sink hundreds and hundreds of hours of play into something that will turn into Panda Island Adventures again... I've been playing since about a week after launch (took a while to go get my copy) and I'm still enjoying it.

Surprisingly, though, I only have one Twi'lek character and hardly play her.  But my best friend plays at least one on both sides, so I still get to stare at lekku all I want at least.   Cheesy
