Newsprint?

So I picked up the latest issue of Hellblazer and I noticed it was on newsprint. I'm pretty new to the whole bagging/boarding individual issues thing, are there any extra precautions I should be taking with newsprint over glossy? Any tips are appreciated.

Well, with newsprint, you wanna stick it in a bag with a board.

Glossy paper, I find I end up sticking in a bag, with a board.

So, really, it's quite different.

(Your biggest enemy with newsprint is acid or things that catalyze acidic breakdown, like sunlight and such.  If you're using acid-free comics bags and placing the shiny side of the board towards the book, you're fine with both type of paper.)

Well, I could make something up, but the honest answer is purely anecdotal.  The shiny side has less friction, which makes it easier for me to get the books in and out of bags, which with old ones, is pretty crucial.  If you have comic book bags, you can be pretty sure that you're dealing with acid-free or at least low-acid bags...

If you ever have to bag an 80 Page Giant, or one of DC's mid-70's double-size 100 page books, that extra slippiness (which is a word I've just made up) can be the difference between bag sizes...
