Yes, I don't think it was a punishment. Bryan has done well as a heel. It took a while to build heat for him but he achieved it, especially with the way he treats AJ.

He's got some popularity going for him right now even though he's supposed to be hated. He'll have to work to get the boos again.

As a Smackdown spoiler, I heard he dumps AJ this Friday. He even called her "fat". (Now I know he has issues!)

So they are still trying to keep him on the heel side, I think. It's Sheamus that is struggling, imo.

But I don't think Sheamus is much of a performer. He's fairly one-dimensional and it's not even an interesting dimension.

He'd do better as a heel, even though I don't think the WWE is trying to go that route.

AJ...fat... Roll Eyes

After just watching Wrestemania, I thought the whole 18 second match with...Sheamus, is it? was a joke WWE threw in to make fun of the fact that every other freaking match was obnoxiously long.

The Hell in the Cell match was the best of them (with the Jericho match being up there) but it was sooooo freeeeeking long!

Am I misremembering the length of these PPV matches from my youth?

Did you purchase Wrestlemania or was there a more clever way to watch it?

No, I didn't purchase it, but it wasn't very clever. My wife knows a guy who had a DVD recorder.

I'd feel worse about it if it wasn't for the trash Nexus Halloween costume I bought my kid from WWE.com two years back. I almost feel fully redeemed...almost.

You mean you didn't buy the $75 folding chair from K-Mart?

Um, no.

Funny story, I won tickets to a PPV back in 2002 and they gave me the chairs my wife and I sat in. All commemorative and stuff. Sold one on eBay for $75 and actually made a profit sitting second row next to the entrance ramp for an awesome show.

Meet and greet with RVD as well. It was an awesome day for me as a wrestling fan. Amazing card!

Well, of course it was an amazing card. It featured D'Lo Brown.  Cheesy

That's cool though. I've met Bart and Billy Gunn but that's about it.

I've considered jumping the security railing to challenge Triple H or Mark Henry in the middle of the ring but reconsidered. Instead I'll be waiting for AJ in my Prius.  Smiley

I liked D'Lo. Nation of Domination rocked! Smiley

But the Hogan v Undertaker match made me, surprisingly, turn into a 10 year little boy again. I mean, I knew I was going to be excited, but I was surprised at just how excited I got when Hogan came out. It was the '80s all over again.

If you start this video and look at the lower right corner at about the 2m28s mark you can see my "Gomer 3:16" sign that I still have Smiley

Its cool to be posting in the WWE thread and sharing this stuff with people who may also think its pretty cool Wink

Yeah, that's cool, man!

One of the things I like about this forum is that you can throw almost anything in for discussion. I've also found that a lot of comic book fans also like not only RPGs but also wrestling.

Dunno why that is. Maybe the escapism of it all?

It's been a long time since I've been to a pro-wrestling match. The last was a live WCW event, a lesser PPV (but I can't remember the name).

The main event featured The Four Horsemen. This was when Chris Benoit was with them.

Good stuff going on here, and I am now going to go off.

First, the story-telling elements of all of those formats are basically the same. Good guys; bad guys; back and forth banter; huge build-ups; climactic endings. Its all the same thing, really.

Second, its a shame how Chris Benoit has been erased from WWE history as though he never existed. I understand what he did was a terrible thing, but he was obviously sick and there is no doubt that a 1000 flying headbutts will have some impact on a guy going completely crazy.

I think he should have been recognized to some extent at that Four Horsemen HoF deally they had, even though I do understand he came in at the end...I just hate the entire situation with that whole thing.

We have a fairly strong pro-wrestling scene in Nashville. Jeff Jarret is actually from my hometown and his company was going pretty strong for a while. Sidenote: Double J is a really nice guy; made my son feel special simply by stopping and saying 'hello' while we waited in line at a restaurant and he (of course) had a table waiting. But he saw my son freaking out as soon as I told him he was there and shook his hand and everything. He got crapped on when he left WWE and it was so unfair. Losing to Chyna in a Homemaker's Match was a slap in the face to both Double J and Chyna.

Saw Wrestling in Nashville.

Not the greatest show on Earth, but cheap and fun Smiley

I agree about the similarities between comics, RPGs, and wrestling.

I also agree about Benoit's legacy. Wrestling is so political. Things get altered based on marketing value and who has the say at the time.

As I understand it, Chris Jericho was gone from the WWE for a while simply because HHH didn't like him.

Benoit should be remembered for what he brought to the sport. There aren't many people that came out of Stu Hart's Dungeon but the ones that did show the talent and dedication it took to survive it. Benoit should be remembered for that.

But, as far as I know (and I didn't see this year's HoF) there was no real mention of Randy Savage either, was there? Talk about a guy who deserved an induction.

It really is sad that it's Vince's stage and he only inducts who will benefit the company at the time-whether it be for a new dvd release or capitalizing on archive tapes. There's many people who have been through the WWE that have a long history and have made a wave in the industry that will never be inducted. Love or hate him...Vince does have the most pull for the moment, how long that lasts is anyone's guess.

Age will eventually get him, same as everyone. I hear Stephanie is a fairly competent power-holder in the company. But it seems the writers have lost all concept of how to develop a story line.

For those who care. Daniel Bryan and CM Punk just had an deadly match at Over The Limit. I imagine it'll be on YouTube soon enough. And while you're there, check out Brock Lesnar and John Cena at last month's Extreme Rules.

Anything going on with AJ as it relates to that? It seemed like maybe they were starting an angle with her and Punk?
