What if the heads at Marvel & DC Comics traded their characters
Wanda "Scarlet Witch" Maximoff & Zatanna Zatara to each other
back in 1986 after the Crisis on Infinite Earths maxi-series had
ended?

What would happen if Marvel retconned Z & SW as a Marvel
character and a DC one respectively? With no memories
of their original universes?

How different do you think the ladies' retold origins will be
if The Big Two had made miniseries that presented their
new backstories?

How much would things change for (and with) the magician and
the witch's allies, associates, enemies, friends, locations
and lovers in this scenario?

What happens if Wanda's mother, Magda & Zatanna's father, Giovanni "John" Zatara
were swapped along with their daughters without any memories of their
original 'verses and had married different people in the new worlds
they've resided in afterwards?

How will this trade off effect comicdom, comic companies and anything else?

Finally, how would people feel towards the swap up?

Note: For the sake of this thread, Magneto will marry a different woman
(who would bare his child, Pietro) and Zatara & Magda will be the only
other characters, besides Wanda & Z, to be swapped in this scenario.

Wanda had a lot of issues stemming from her childhood and her later membership in the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants under Magneto. But I don't think anything affected, and unbalanced, her nearly as much as what happened with her children.

So, if the Vision did not end up in the DCU, I think a lot of Wanda's story would revolve around what sort of family life she ended up with.

I know, Crazy Wanda is the only one that has had such a grand impact on the universe. Crazy Wanda is the way to go Smiley

But a female in the Marvel U with a real shot at being the Sorcerer(ess) Supreme would be really cool. Although I'm honestly not sure how Zatanna's powers work specifically.

Only Wanda and her mom got swapped in this scenario, Nav.

Then it would depend on what the DC writers writes for her in the DCU. Wanda looks for love without understanding much of its context. A good writer could have a field day with that.

I believe it would have had a greater effect on Marvel than DC.  While Zatanna has had some big bits on occasion, it didn't have to be Z.  Any magical person could had done most of what she did.
Wanda on the other had played greater rolse in House of M, to multiple Avengers stories including Wonder Man returning and the rebirth of the Avengers in the late 90's.
While Zatanna was important as a magical character, Wanda was more important as a character that happened to be magical.
