Urban Druids rock. Turn into constructs and objects and Charisma based. (D’hin’ni get +2 CHa, +2 Dex, -2 Wis. Pretty cool when you think about it. Haunt people with prestidigitation while disguised as an object)
Shapeshift Druids are cool, since they can turn into bestial forms any number of times a day.

Sidewinder Monks have sneak attack.
Wild Monks can shapeshift.

Alright, let's eliminate the Barbarian (since she's not using it anyway) and explore the above.

This is going to be a steampunk setting, btw. So an urban druid or something else that could work in such a setting may be good.

I'm a bit interested in this Wild Monk deal. Tell me more.

New interest:

What about a changeling Urban Druid with a small animated object animal companion that appears to be a puppet (like the one below, except crafted from bronze instead of wood and with articulated fingers)?:

I am thinking the changeling grew up in the city without his natural parents, learning to fit in with the other races but feeling apart from them. His only true constant where he and all others belonged was the city itself.

So he has fashioned himself, in his own mind at least, as somewhat of a self-appointed guardian of the city itself. It provides him a feeling of purpose and connection to his city-mates because he focuses on his role instead of his race and childhood.

This should leave a lot of role-playing potential, as he has to still come to terms with who he is and stop hiding behind the role of guardian and his dozen disguises.

What do you think?

I like it. ^_^ I expect you will get some glamered stuff in the future. The fun thing is, with the Changeling Shape Change, you can alter the appearance of your urban shape. Turn from a Mastiff into a Poodle Tongue

I'd make a human bard named Bob Dylan, and he wouldn't be able to sing.

Since I'm the only DM around my town that plays 4th edition, I have yet to actually make and use a character.  If I was going to make one, I would make a Half-Orc Monk, make sure he has high dex and str and training in Acrobatics and Athletics and flavor him as a parkour runner/messenger ala Mirror's Edge

When people say Messenger...I think the Running Man from Legend of Zelda for some reason.

Dragonborn Paladin Multi-Class Sorcerer

Even though I've been "dead" for 4 months trying to get my life back together, I've been listening to Critical Hit over and over, and I thought up a character that, time travel pending, I really wish I could have played from the beggining of the game:

A Dragonborn Barbarian, Thaneborn Triumph, Lightning Breath, Fullblade training. He would have been a good friend of James' (READ: Smith), and would have been the eldest hatchling of a clan-chief of wandering primal dragonborns, whom are part of a larger tribe of dragonborns, consisting of wardens, barbarians, shamans, druids, and beastmaster rangers. An eager competitor and passionate warrior, he would have constantly picked on Orem, calling him "Feybrat" for his relative youth, and picked fights with Torq, hoping to match strength with a worthy foe; his friendship with Smith would otherwise make him protective of the Sorceror. When the Exelarchy(sp?) of Cogs teleport to the moon, most of the tribe would have gone to fight. In the aftermath of the Thing that Shatters the Sky's death, he would have inheirited responsiblity of the tribe with the death of his parent-cheif. Arriving in Shallai, he would become progressively weaker, as the "Usurper"'s wretched civilization seeped the primal spirits from his body, leading him down an angry path that would culminate in his demand to serve Tiamat, so that he would take vengeance upon the gods of the Void (and, to an extent, the Pantatheon who crippled him), and become a Multi-class Paladin of Tiamt. In the Palace of Carnage, pending that his fight would be in victory, he would challenge Torq directly, finally bringing forth his anger against the "leader" of the Torqeltonnes. Then, if he won, he would have cut off one of Torq's horns, maiming him and replacing him as the leader against the Void.

I keep running in my head the thought of how and additional heavy Striker would have affected the gameplay, such as the Skeleton battle in the tower, and the fight against Ranharu with the weakened condition permanently set upon him. As such, now I REALLY want to play a Dragonborn Barbarian, if only for the fun I could have with such an effectively simple combo.

I would make a hybrid fighter/bard with a fairy arcane companion. He would only speak in grunts and his fairy would be the most annoying creature on the face of the planet.

PS: Looking forward to Skyward Sword

If I ever get the chance to play 4e instead of running it I'll try a Bard, never played one in all of my years of gaming, but its unlikely to happen.
That being said I always wanted to play a duck in RQ as well, and never got round to it; I imagine him being the equivalent of a moustachioed duellist like something out of the Princess Bride Smiley

Stephen would make an interesting bard.  Perhaps when Orem dies.

I play 1e, and I would make...
A bard, human, named Robert Zimmerman.
He would go around beating up evil folks while philosophizing.
"How many times must the cannonballs fly before they are forever banned? Just once." (He then fires diamonds out of a makeshift cannon into the hearts of his enemies.)

Now, granted I'd have to make him a fighter, then switch his class to thief, and then switch it to Druid in order to be a bard -- But I think it's worth it.

Ok, a Bard scottsman. His attacks that mark an enemy to an ally aren't so much a 'He Did It' as they are a dark scowl and maybe a yelling which lets that enemy know he'll be better off with the guy in full plate.

His abilities that restore hp are either comments that let you know you need to suck it up cupcake or inspiring martial music.

Furthermore I'm thinking he uses bagpipes as a Randus esque weapon. They are the obvious musical instrument but can also be used a crossbow by putting a dart down one of the pipes, or a melee weapon like a club.(satisfying whump sound)

Quote
When a character contracts lycanthropy through a lycanthrope’s bite (see above), no symptoms appear until the first night of the next full moon. On that night, the afflicted character involuntarily assumes animal form and forgets his or her own identity, temporarily becoming an NPC. The character remains in animal form, assuming the appropriate alignment, until the next dawn.

The character’s actions during this first episode are dictated by the alignment of its animal form. The character remembers nothing about the entire episode (or subsequent episodes) unless he succeeds on a DC 15 Wisdom check, in which case he becomes aware of his lycanthropic condition.

Werebear alignment is Lawful Good.

I'm going to create a very cliche NPC necromancer for my next campaign. When he took over a tower he had to clear it of what he thought was a pack of regular bears. (Spoilers: they weren't.) One bit him. He has not yet become aware of his affliction, and is trying to figure out why, after every full moon, the villagers find a large pile of salmon, to help them survive in this harsh and hostile land.

Wow, I messed up the quote tags on that one...
