So who went out at midnight and picked it up? I did! What did everyone think? Did the new DC Universe begin with a bang or a whimper?

I liked it, but I didn't love it.  Most of the issue is just a conversation between Green Lantern and Batman.  I understand trying to introduce the characters slowly in case this is a person's first comic, but the decompression of the story makes this issue come off as slow.

I definitely will be getting issue 2, but if it doesn't pick up the pace I will probably drop it.

The first book in a relaunch of 52 new, different comics being slow was a gimme. Where does one go if one starts off at a rocket's pace? Out of steam before Groundhog Day that's where.

I'll be buying it later today.

I like it.
it is not an instant classic, but it is an introduction.  On the first page the reader (with any sense) knows that the world is not familiar with the world of aliens, heroes, or super villains.  It is a nice reset to a world like ours that suddenly has supers.  No noticeable far out tech that doesn't belong.
Hal is a dick, Batman wants to stay in the shadows, Supes is a mystery to the Earthmen, and the alien carrying an Apokoliptian mother box (?) looks swell.
This issue is an intro.  I didn't expect any more than that, and my expectations were met.

I did like seeing Vic still human, but I was rather surprised that he was a teen. 

The Art is good.  I am not the expert others are in this department, but it is functional, captivating and fun.

I was actually glad they kept Vic as a teen for his origin. If he's going to be in the League, it'll set up a good dynamic to have someone who needs a mentor.

Really like the set up for Supes. The way they set him up as a dangerous and unknown force came across well.

Yeah, I can't say I see much of a change in the core personalities of Bruce and Hal, except to play up Hal's arrogance to absurd levels.

There's really only about 20-21 pages of big panels to the issue, and, as Jawiin said, most of that is just conversation and posturing by Hal. So, yeah, it's a slow intro. It reminded me why I generally buy the trade. Picked it up on Comixology and read it on my laptop.

Finally got the darned thing yesterday!         I must say, after reading it, that I really quite liked it. Green Lantern's constructs were pretty fun. The dialogue was nice. I like the clash between Bats and GL (And it's a different take than the one Johns used in GL:Rebirth).

I have to say though, that I love, love, love that final page.     I wish I had that as a poster.




Hey, did anybody spot the creepy woman who's supposedly from Flashpoint? I found her (In the crowd in a single panel of the football game), but I haven't read Flashpoint so....... Any meaning is kinda lost on me.

Kitty is so awesome she has managed to appear in a completely different universe. Even Wolverine has barely managed that trick.

Just saying. I think its a really cool thing to have this mystery character. It adds another level, as thin as it is, to the whole thing. Thin, but it has the ability to grow and mean something...eventually

Hmm, don't recognise that at all, but I see what you mean.

Well, people think it's the woman from the end of Flashpoint who explained everything and explained there's a major threat or something? (Not read Flashpoint, so I'm not sure).
I do like the extra layer though.
