My last big exposure to Country was when a junior pastor at my former church hired a West Virginia hillbilly family from the place he tooke the youth a few times a year to help out.
It was our third and almost last time at that church.

Exposure?

Was the family a group of singers??

Try terrestrial radio Smiley They play music on there from time to time  Roll Eyes

This is my favorite Taylor Swift song.

I lingered over the first few seconds. That video is fine!

... but it is the epitome of Country.   Wink

Best to avoid WV altogether. That's not the country you want.

Taylor makes me like Gaumer's state of Tennessee better though. ... That video link by Rodrigo sends my hormones in a direction unsuited for the thread, I am sure.

This is my favorite Taylor Swift song.
Bad lip sync but otherwise she makes me feel kinda funny, like when we used to climb the rope in gym class.

The guy that loaded it said that it's actually slightly out of synch, check out his other stuff, it's pretty much dead on.

Maybe this is a good commentary on music appreciation:

Honestly, I'd sort of say Ryan Adams' alt-country explosion of the early 2000's did more to add greater legitimacy and growth to Country than Swift. Swift's pop sentimentality is sort of reminiscent of Shania Twain's cross-genre hits of the late 90's.

But pop in general is becoming more of a niche market as music is growing more fractured. With ever-growing frequency, singers are becoming "internet famous" in a way that enables them to maintain a career like "The Civil Wars", for instance--a Nashville group that's had a strong YouTube following for awhile now.

Ironically, Swift tweeted about The Civil Wars a little while ago, giving them some media attention.

You cannot talk about country/pop crossover in the 1990's without mentioning Achy Breaky Heart.

So let's not talk about that Wink

That is one of the few songs I despise so badly that I won't even listen to the Weird Al version.

Agreed.

But at least Billy Ray gave us the incredibly talented Miley.   Roll Eyes

Only by a couple of years.  Tongue

But her best friend, Selena Gomez, is only 19. So I thought Taylor could introduce us after I get rid of that Bieber kid.
