The biggest inconsistency is in how the "realism brush" was applied.
Realism doesn't mean 100% accurate to real life. It just means minimizing your suspension of disbelief. Most people don't know the science of how speech works and won't expect a mouth with only half the lips to have speech problems. Just like the eyeball issue you have is one that no one will really pay attention to for the same reason no one cares that Joker could wander through the hospital in a nurse uniform unnoticed. Two-Face was a plausible rendition of how that character could exist in our world even if he was portrayed with movie style to make the story work.
How you feel about the movie in general is subjective.
But I'm going to state this categorically--Joker was made realistic in a way that Two Face was not. This is not a matter of opinion. Nolan himself said he picked something that would make Dent look less realistic. "When we looked at less extreme versions of it, they were
too real
and more horrifying," he said.
It just rankles when it's stated that TDK is the "greatest superhero movie ever" when, IMHO, it wasn't even worth the price of admission (not to mention the parking ticket I got because the movie was longer than 2 hours).

And boobies. Gotta have those.
I am having trouble fathoming why someone wouldn't at the very least respect TDK, if not love it. The fact that you don't, Grey, is something I can't quite wrap my brain around.
I'll keep listening to your venting and maybe I can come up with some discussion from that.

While I agree that it isn't the "greatest superhero movie ever", I did rather enjoy TDK.
There were things I disliked about it as a Batman fan and things I disliked about it as a movie viewer, but I still found enough that I did like that I actually enjoyed it.
I'm sorry that you disliked it so much, but I respect that you don't.

Why does it upset you that they call TDK the best superhero movie ever? You can not like something and still admit that it is better than others of its kind. I don't like Hamlet, but i can still admit it is one of Shakespeare/s greatest works.

I'm confused by that. How do you measure greatness? Do you judge it by the quality of the work, or by its reception?
It's a bit of apples and oranges, because Hamlet has inspired so many OTHER works in the centuries since Shakespeare wrote it. But if Hamlet came out a few years ago and you hated it, would you still refer to it as "great"?

Yes! We all know that the only way to make ANYTHING better is to add Deadpool or Wolverine. Catwoman would have been fine if only they'd thought to reach across to Marvel and steal some mysterious loner goodness.
Maybe add Cable too, while you're at it.

Everyone knows Cable died a while back. How would a comic character come back from the dead? All realism would be flushed right down the shitcan

You called that a comic character that had died would come back from the dead?
Not a preseason super bowl prediction by a long shot, but...sure. Greyman called it

YES! Win!
Okay, what should I predict next?
Hmm...Okay, in 2012, someone WILL be elected President.
And...this is just a guess, but...I bet it will be a Democrat or a Republican.

People always looks at me funny when I tell them that I think
Batman Begins
is a better movie overall than
The Dark Knight
.
In my opinion at least. And keep in mind that it's based on a movie enjoyment scale and not Batman mythology scale as I never got to in depth with the the Bats in comic form.
Why do I think this? Well two main reasons.
1.
The Dark Knight
is, as other people have noted, too damn long and it's really doesn't need to be.
Batman Begins
doesn't feel like a chore to watch in the end.
2. I think it's a more well rounded viewing experience that
The Dark Knight
. Because Ledger's Joker was such a strong character and the movie ran so long, I found myself losing interest with any scene that didn't have him on screen. I never felt my attention wane during BB, least that I remember.
While I can certainly see the love most have for TDK, I'm glad I'm not the only person who didn't really care for it overall.

Appreciate that I'm not alone in the wilderness.
This thread actually started with very similar statements I made in
The Dark Knight Rises
thread.

As a Long time forum troll (my precious!) I have made it know that I 'dislike' batman to put it kindly. No that said I did enjoy the The Dark Knight when I went to see it in the theater. But having watched it again not that long ago. I find its not as good as the first time through. Its preachy, every plot thread is spelled out at least twice. The batman voice gets real, real old very quicky. Their is not a lot of subtlity in it. It a good movie but its not a great movie like alot of people talked it up.
