So I'm listening to this Radio Lab story (awesome radio program) where they're talking to this archaeologist who's discovered the oldest recorded passage from the New Testament. It is a tiny scrap of papyrus that includes the following passage from the New Testament (quoting King James Version, below):
And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
But the problem is that this number, this six hundred threescore and six number, was NOT on this scrap of papyrus. What number was on?
616That's right. The number of the Marvel universe is THE MARK OF THE BEAST.
