Yeah, I think it was a good movie, not the best of my life but I liked it

Thor? ... Oh, yeah. He's Captain America's sidekick in the Avengers, right?  Wink

Thor being a prince and future king, I wouldn't say he is or the sidekick of anyone.
It is more likely that Capt. America was the sidekick, if ever that happens.
But if Thor allows CA or any other Marvel guy to lead the way, it will not be because he is the sidekick but because he has learned humility and allow others to lead the way if they can and just take initiative when his is needed. Wink

Jane Foster: I'm sorry. But I can't take you.
Thor: Then this is where we say goodbye.
[he takes her hand and kisses it]
Jane Foster: Uh...thank you!
Thor: Jane Foster. ... Farewell.
...
Thor: You think me strange?
Jane Foster: Yeah, I do!
Thor: Good strange, or bad strange?
Jane Foster: I'm not quite sure yet.
...
Thor: I must go back to Asgard. But I give you my word, I will return for you.
[he takes her right hand and kisses it]
Thor: Deal?
[she suddenly kisses him passionately]
Jane Foster: Deal.

Just saw it.  Good movie.  Too much Talkie Talkie for my son to enjoy.  (He is three)

It's good but not great. In the past I have bought the Marvel movies as soon as they were released. Although I'm sure I'll buy it, I haven't felt compelled to do so.

I still assert they spent too much time with Hollywood romance between Thor and Jane instead of more time developing Loki and the Asgardian world. I think they needed to focus on what made Thor unique (as they did with Steve in the Captain America movie).

Being a human-loving Asgardian IS what makes Thor unique in the movie.

Agreed. But Loki is too important to the story and to the future of the Marvel movies to be a side-plot while Thor hangs out with Jane. It just seemed slightly out of balance to me.

Maybe a bit, but we did learn more about Loki than any other Asgardian and there were quite a few of them.

Its a movie, though, dude: they have to make every movie a love story at some point or another. Every. Freaking. Movie.

That's the truth. But still, once we start making excuses for them and lower our expectations, it is only those expectations that must be met.

That's the truth Smiley

But I can't recall many really good movies that don't have some sort of romantic sub-story going on. Not saying the romantic part ruined Thor, it WAS necessary more so than other movies I'd say, but more Loki would have been better. But then a movie always risk becoming the first Batman movie which should have been called Joker, since it was all pretty much about the Joker...IDK. Its a fine line.

I think the romance is perfectly fine. It not only shows Thor as the Midgard-lover he is but allows for some growth of the character. And there's nothing wrong with romance (especially when it's Natalie Portman).

Lord of the Rings had a strong love story (Aragon and Arwen, not Frodo and Sam).

It worked fine. Even in two-hour movies like Captain America or Iron man or even Daredevil it all worked alright.

I just think it should have been balanced better with Thor. But I've already said that so, point made.

I enjoyed the movie though.
