Amber looks completely confused.
"I'm sorry, I don't understand."
"You want me to go somewhere with you? I mean, I know who you are. I've seen you at the tournament and when you helped save the city, but we don't even know each other."
"Do we?"
she asks sincerely, trying unsuccessfully to determine your sudden interest in her life.

I sigh.
"No, we don't know each other. And it's not that I want you to go somewhere with
me
ezackly. For that matter, you don't even have to go. Oh, this is hopeless. I have no idea how to explain it properly without telling you all of it..."
"Praps you should sit down?"

Landru points over the items.
"All of these were confiscated by the church because they were tied in some way to the False Ones. They were probably once items owned by some of the other races."
"Three of the scrolls are scrolls of Greater Teleport while the other two are scrolls of Teleport Object. With the planes sealed I'm sure the priests considered them too dangerous to use, and rightly so at the time."
"The vials of liquid are silversheen. They would be handy if you were fighting shapeshifters because it overcomes their inherent resistance to damage if you coat your weapons with it."
"The wand resizes things. It doesn't work on magical items or living creatures but, otherwise, you can change the size of something down to half or up to twice its normal size. I don't think it has many charges left, maybe a dozen. But the best thing about it is that it can affect not just a single object but everything in a thirty-foot burst. The effect is permanent too so be careful."
"The cloaks protect you from harm by increasing your fortitude, reflex, and willpower against attacks. They are as good as you can find. It's a shame the church hid away something of such quality."
"The wearer of the bracelet can give each of those four charms to one of his friends and then, whenever he needs to, he can instantly summon that person back to him (so long as they are willing at the time). It works about anywhere as long as the wearer and the charm-holder are on the same plane."
"The little beads, well...near as I can tell, you swallow them; like a pill. Each one makes you resistant to heat, cold, acid, lightning, pretty much anything that would overwhelm the body. I'm not sure how resistant they make you but it'll help. I haven't tried one but I think it lasts for several minutes; maybe even an hour."
"I hated to take them but, as I see it, they weren't the church's property just because they took it from the body of someone the Order had killed. We need to be using things like this to save lives instead of hoarding it like a dragon's treasure."

Amber sits in a straight backed wooden chair. She folds her hands in her lap over her tan dress and looks at you.
She remains silent, confusion and now worry etching her face.

"Well, simple thing first I spose. We're setting up a new city out near... well, where Forest Falls used to be. Something had happened to all the people who lived there before we arrived... the town was empty. Everyone there is starting from scratch and everyone there is somehow... displaced. Didn't quite fit where they used to be, one way or another. I thought... I hoped that maybe Union Point would be the kind of place that maybe you could belong, if you never felt you belonged here."
"The downside is that it might be at the center of a war for a while, but hopefully not for long."
"But the bigger thing... the thing that seems impossible. Oh, I really hope I'm doing the right thing here! Anyway... please forgive me for what I'm about to tell you... you know how people's souls are sposed to go to Sacrosanct when they die? It's... broken. It's not working. Hasn't been for many lifetimes now. The souls are... they're just there. No torment, but no eternal happiness either. Just waiting, until someone can fix it. Which, by the way, is something we are trying to figure out how to do, but we haven't yet."
"But one thing some of us at Union Point have discovered how to do... a sort of gift, except some days it feels more like a curse... is we can talk to these people. See them."
I bow my head.
"You see where I'm going with this?"

"Alright. I bid you farewell then, Montford. I hope to see you in another life, Brother."
I then leave and head to the cemetery.

As Faerun opens his mental encyclopedia, he writes the information down on some parchment. He hands it to Master Landru.
Faerun looks at the bracelet.
"Are those charms reusable? If so, that would make the recalling of emissaries much less of a hassle."
Faerun looks at the silversheen.
"More silversheen? Hmm...perhaps would be good for the troops."
Faerun looks at the cloaks.
"Given how often dark tomorrow has overwhelmed members of our party with Fireballs, and our encounters with Poison...and that run in with the Mintrix confusion spell...and that encounter with the symbol of sleep...and the paralysis poison of the Planeswalkers. Those cloaks would be quite useful."
Faerun looks at the wand of reduce/enlarge object.
"That wand might be useful in the crafting of barricades.. Turn small rocks into boulders and such."
Faerun looks at the beads.
"Those beads, just what is needed for a transplanar trip into Laukordia. ...let me check them first though, consumables could be very tricky."
Faerun casts Detect Magic and gives the items a second look.
...And looks at Aphra in the process...and Master Landru.

Using
Detect Magic
and your
Knowledge Arcana
, you deduce the following:
The bracelet is a Bracelet of Friends. Yet the charms on this one are reusable. Each may be used once per day.
The liquid is in fact silversheen.
The cloaks are Cloaks of Resistance.
{+5}
The wand is as Landru described it. It has 12 charges.
The beads seem safe to carry and consume. They act as a
Protection from Energy
spell except that they absorb damage from any of that spell's defensible energy types; it does not have to be selected. It is limited by damage taken, not time as Landru mistakenly thought.
{Absorbs 15 points per attack, up to a maximum of 150 hp.}
Aphra is wearing:
A Ring of Protection.
{+3}
Ring of Feather Falling.
Amulet of Natural Armor.
{+3}
and a Belt of Giant Strength.
{+4}
Landru appears to be wearing no magical items at all nor under the influence of any sort of spell. He glances at you, squinting with one eye.
"Don't bother, kid."

Amber continues to stare at you, T'Ning, her gaze ever more intense. When she speaks, it is in a low voice that is almost a whisper.
"Are you telling me you have seen my daughter?"
"I know...I believe you."
"I have felt her today. Somehow, I felt her here."
"I have tried to ignore the feeling all day but...she is here, isn't she?"

"I almost expected you to make your hat 'seem' like the most powerful hat in the world to Detect Magic, since I well know that you can. I would not expect to find any auras on you except for those you want to be seen, as I take a similar precautions myself."
"I believe those beads are not limited by time though, but how much energy damage you receive, after that limit is passed, the effect ends."

"She's outside right now... with Rachel. I didn't want to have this conversation with you in front of her. But yes, she's been here and I... and Rachel and some other people in Union Point... can let you see her for a time."
"And that's the sacrifice I meant. The best thing that you could do for yourself would be to move on from what happened to her. Build a new life. But she's still a little girl who needs her mommy and I couldn't bear to tell her I couldn't help her when I knew I could. I'm sorry."
"Because she'll never grow up, never become a woman or get married... for the rest of your life and beyond, unless we find a fix for whatever's wrong with Sacrosanct... she'll
always
be a little girl who needs her mommy."

Liv, you and Moira leave the church to head to the cemetery. You see the newly formed Earthkin tunnel and the new school.
You also look into the Grey Realm to see many more spirits here. Many souls walk along the cemetery grounds and around Old City.
You look about and see the Knights of Aeslindorn whom you acquired into service. They come readily over to you. As they do, you see nearly a hundred other spirits following them. Many are commoners; merchants, craftsmen, and laborers.
But you also see Boris, the barbarian from before the Ascension, and many of his fellows. There are also other warriors; mercenaries and former Guards of the city.
You see most stunned to see three stone giants at the rear of the contingent. Dressed only in furs, they tower twelve feet tall.
One of the Knights of Aeslindorn approaches you.
"Milady Liv. Well met this day."
"We have marshaled forces as you requested. We stand ready to serve, most holy one."
