HP Lovecraft

Hi,
I listened to last weeks show and HP Lovecraft came up. I am a fan, and there are a few good resources out there. One great resource is another podcast, HPpodcraft (I think). They have been doing overviews and commantary on the HP stories in chronological order, and have readers who are TV actors, so the readings that they put in sound quite good. They also have a few audiostories.
Many of the lovecraft stories are also online free of charge. The books are not really necessary, as most of it is in the public domain anyhow. I think that the webpage <dagonbytes> has most of them, and possibly more as well.

I've purchased MP3s from theaudiobookshop.com. A while ago they were offering "At the Mountains of Madness" and "The Statement of Randolph Carter" as a free download.

I actually haven't gotten around to listening to those productions, but the first two Elric Saga ones are quite good. They've got a selection of E.R. Burroughs titles as well. I haven't seen updates to the catalog in a long time, and I never got a response to a direct email form them, but the automatic providing of links for the MP3 downloads seems to work just fine.

My apologies if the mentioning of a commercial site offends sensibilities.

I've read a few Lovecraft books and a few collections of his short stories, but it was so long ago I barely remember what. I believe I read Lurker in the Shadows and In the Mountains of Madness, but that's just a guess.

Also read a couple August Derleth stories. They weren't bad.

Don't want to get into a "separate the man from his art" thing, but I kind of soured on Lovecraft books when I read more about him as a person. Very influential, though. No question.

I highly recommend getting your hands on any HP Lovecraft audio story/book read by Wayne June. Best voice ever for this type of work. I have the Dunwich Horror, and it is fantastic.
