Sure, you can always just drop your trousers and say, "So what do you think of this?!" ... But it's probably not your best opening move. ... Memorable, but not best.
Sounds like a guy who already tried it!

It's easier to decide which women to try dating after you cross off the ones with restraining orders against you.

Gaumer has women running red lights to get away from him and ducking into dark alleys because it's safer for her.

THIS ^ ... should not be your opening line to the young lady in question. These days it could even be considered sexual harassment. Not like in the old days when it would just get someone laughed at by all the girls in town for trying it.

But why learn to take responsibility for our own feelings or respond to someone who offends us with maturity when we can appeal to authority and sue them. Soon all people will be required to frequently state long disclaimers before even saying anything at all for fear they will be subject to punitive action. That would be a sad world.

THIS ^ ... should not be your opening line to the young lady in question. Actually, the sad thing is that given andrew's demographic, I've heard far worse lines used...and work. The pendulum is swinging away from hyper-sensitive reactions to overt things like that. Interestingly enough my current love-life has made me fit the title of this thread quite literally. I am a romantic that is helpless to do anything about my feelings. And it is beginning to look like the plot to several tv shows I've watched.

Ah, but we always want to be careful in any situation to not paint ourselves as the victim. Why do you feel you are helpless?

^I think he's referring to the fact that his feeling are strong towards someone and either expressing them would create complications or he was rejected. One's feelings can (in some people) be an unstoppable force that override logic, sense and/or status.
This is just a guess ...

Our feelings are not unstoppable. But I agree that they can be a powerful force that we must exert great effort toward getting under control. That is why I wanted to hear the specifics from @lantis (if he chooses to share). I was curious and concerned as to what was the exact challnge he was facing.

While it's true they aren't "unstoppable" they can be the clearly dominant force in a struggle between them and your will power.

Sorry, I disagree. Your emotions are not the dominant force unless you allow them to be. The way you learn to think will change your feelings accordingly.
