Is anyone subscribing to a Marvel title? How is the shipping working for that?

I know it's 6-8 weeks for the first issue but do the issues arrive on time?

How far are they behind the LCS release date?

How are they mailed? Do they arrive secure or mangled or what?

I don't know if this is the case anymore, but my previous Marvel subs came about the same week or the week before they would show up at the comics shops, which was about 2 or 3 weeks before it showed up in the bookstores or supermarket newsstands.  They also came in a sturdy, somewhat hard cardboard envelope, but still got curved to fit in my mailbox.

I don't know if that would be the case anymore, but that was how I got mine about 13 - 14 years ago.  Kinda curious how they arrive now myself since I'm considering getting subs to one or two titles since the comic shop is so far out of my way.

In the 80's they sent comics with nothing more than a piece of "brown paper bag"-like paper around it to hold the pages together. It didn't even cover the comic; it was just a strip around the middle. They would always come all bent up or wet from snow or rain.

Later they started sending them in plastic bags with a thin piece of paper stock. At least they didn't get wet anymore but there was no real protection from the flimsy enclosure so they still got bent up pretty badly.

Nowadays I don't know.

So, does anyone know how the comics are mailed? I want to get my Uncanny X-Men groove going but I don't want to pay for mutilated comics.

Just thought of this, but have you considered a sub from a source other than Marvel?  I can't think of any offhand, but there used to be numerous places that offered subscription delivery through them instead of directly from the company, and some of them stated how they would deliver them "protected" when people were obviously unhappy with receiving mangled issues direct from the publisher.

Just a thought to look into, I'm sure there are a few reputable places to choose from and others might know of.

It would be a possibility. Anyone have any suggestions?

Today was another comic release day that has passed me by because I can't seem to get myself in gear. Finding a way to get Uncanny X-Men undamaged in the mail shouldn't be that big of a challenge.

I have none, dude.

I'm not sure I'd trust anyone to be able to send me comic book single issues at a good price and get them to me every single time with no damage.

I don't know anyone personally who does this. I've honestly never heard anything spectacular about any one company that does this.

I've gotten some stuff from Dynamic Forces, and it was in good condition, I just don't know anything about getting stuff weekly/monthly on time.

If it were me, and my LCS closed down, God forbid, I'd either do a really time-consuming thing like research (not sure how to go about that either), trial and error, or just buy trades.

Trial and error sounds like an approach fraught with disappointment. Trades would always leave me half a year or more behind the times.

I dunno...*sighs*

Isn't DCBservice $6.25 per month? That's more than the price of the issue.

EDIT: It looks like the latest issue of UXM on dcbs is $2.39. So would it cost me $8.64 a month to get an issue of UXM?

Considering you're currently infinity behind the times that's a huge leap forward

Well, that solves your problem. If you want to keep up with Wolvie its like 5 books. You can justify 6 bucks shipping for 6 books Smiley

I suppose I could. I should forget all about that Kitten Proud chick or whatever her name is and only read about Wolverine because he's, like, so cool and all. If that girl was going to be important in the Marvel Universe it would have happened already. She's clearly a nobody.

Wolverine rulz, dude!
