What I found really weird about Wally was one throwaway line spoken by Batman to him in Justice League. He said something along the lines of, "You've been in a costume longer than any of us."

The implication was that Wally had been in costume longer than Batman. I was trying to figure out the chronology of that, and couldn't.

Wouldn't that mean that Barry was supposed to be in costume before Bruce?

Dick Grayson & Hawkman

Dick unlike many heroes has a real personality outside of his caped persona and the good writers have managed to capture this from the 70's onward.  From his "I'm not my father (Batman)" teen angst to "I am Batman, just not in personality" he has been a hero who really tried to keep his lives separate and not just a caped crusader in civies.

Despite all of the continuity fuck ups, Hawkman at his core is a solid man with principals and personality.  The line between Hawkman & Carter/ Katar has been blurred since the 80's but he is still enjoyable to read.  I believe he is at his best when there is a Hawkfemale and not such a reliance on the reincarnation in the current life plot thread.

I like that.
I STILL can NOT figure out Hawkman's origins, despite repeated wikipedia trips or even looking at DC's database(which is WONDERFUL place to figure things out, actually. Y'all should check it out), but everytime I see him in comics, he's got his own character which is strong, a leader, and somewhat annoying.
I like the consistency. He is SUCH a good superhero.

And I think Wally West is competent enough to LEAD the Justice League if he had to. He's just never had to. Dude's a Titan in the DC universe.

Don't try to figure it out.  It'll just give you a headache (or put you into a coma).  Just do what the rest of us do:  smile and nod, slowly back away and just accept "He's a dude with wings".   Wink   Cheesy

Totally agree. I was actually considering putting Grayson in as my favorite character. When he's written well, he's a fascinating study, but the problem is that he's so rarely written well.

I haven't kept up with the stories of him as Batman, but I remember when the Dixon-penned Nightwing series started. The first issue was fascinating, just dealing with Grayson on his own--no Titans and no Batman. He's a young man just trying to find his way: showing him interacting with people in his past on a personal level. It was just a really interesting story and then they had to ruin it by bringing in a Soviet Russian supervillain with a bionic hand.

I had an ex-girlfriend who was convinced I was an angel. (an honest-to-Jehovah angel who didn't remember my true origin)

She based this on:

1) I don't know my father.
2) I apparently had an "aura of divine light" about me.
3) Once, while having sex with her, I supposedly said "Sarayel". She claimed this was my true angelic name, brought forth as I released the layer of mortality that held me back.

... I no longer date this woman.   Roll Eyes

I think we need to start a support group for people who have dated insane women.   Shocked

Anyways, I was looking at costumes in Second Life and I found an avatar for a character that, while not my favorite, is one I like and wonder where he is:  G'nort.  Last two things I heard were the time he caught Catman and sniffed the mayor's butt (in a GL special, Kyle and the others were talking over drinks at Warrior's) and more recently that he wouldn't be a Black Lantern when asked about it at a con because he isn't dead.

The Joker.  Followed closely by Batman.  (as it usually is)

Well, it makes sense, in universe.  Barry was one of the first heroes of the Silver Age (or the "12 or so years ago") and Wally was his sidekick at the tender age of 8.  It does make sense to think that, with Batman necessarily being on a sliding timescale, Barry and Wally predate most, if not all, of the other heroes, save J'Onn J'Onzz.
