I liked Britney for about a week and a half, then I just kinda got sick of her.

I'm not sure if it was because of the popstar thing or that I just didn't find her all that appealing.  I actually used to think Christina Aguilera was much more attractive (and just plain cute) at the same point in time, until she went with the "skanky" look that she hasn't quite recovered from (although I did like her looks in the "Candyman" video).  But Britney never really appealed all that much to me.

I think in the case of both Britney and Megan we have a young woman who is certainly decently attractive (for the image they were trying to portray at least) but who was hyped into goddess status by the media. It was hard not to buy into that when every second of every media moment was extolling the virtues of Britney or Megan.

But this is also the same phenomenon that caused us to be totally burnt out by them. Eventually, we got so sick of seeing them that they became not only uninteresting but actually started assuming negative appeal.

Yet they were still the same women; no more or less attractive than before.

I think it is very interesting how media exposure affects our perceptions like that.

You have a point.   Part of the appeal to some attractive celebrities, to me, is the mystery around who they are as a person and (slowly) learning about them.  When we get truckloads of info blasted at us half the day through various sources, it kind of dilutes the "mystery" of that person to nonexistent.  It is part of why I hate all those celebrity shows like TMZ (who can also take it too far).  I like learning if someone I like likes the same candy as I do, but I don't need to know about their private and often sad troubles from their past (or seeing them hassled during a rough time of their lives either, they are human after all).

I agree.

Lately I think Katy Perry is risking some of that overexposure. I don't know much about her but she looks good. Pretty but a little different. Sexy without being waif-thin. Seems to have tons of personality.

But lately it's Katy-Katy-Katy to the point that I'm clicking right over to the next web page or channel where I would have been more likely to stop for her before.

I know it isn't really all her fault, but it has made me a tad sick of seeing her so much.

However, I was sick of seeing Russell Brand before I even knew who he was, so when I see them together I'm quicker to changing the channel or finding another place online to look around.

Maybe we should find a celebrity who is not nearly as well-publicized and talk about her enough that everyone starts assuming she must be really special.   Grin

Here are two photos of Ashley Green from a party for her film, Skateland (the pictures tagged with the appropriate copyright):

Photo 1

Photo 2

One of those photo, the first one, looks entire appropriate and possible.

The second photo has made perhaps the strongest statement to me yet on why I am simply too f**king old to be thinking I look right trying to hug up on a 20-something hottie.

I am now very depressed.   Embarrassed

Well you can rest assured that at least you won't look like a complete tool when you do it like that guy in the first photo does.

lol Well, yeah, there is that. Besides, maybe if the second guy stood with a little better posture...maybe?...I dunno.

On the other hand, if I get a woman who looks like Ashley Greene to be sincerely interested in me then I get the last laugh on Age and Fate after all, don't I?   Smiley

I've never been wowed by Scarlett Johanssen for some reason but I am in the minority there. There is little wrong with her and certainly a fine choice for the thread.
