Hey everyone, seems like we ended up with someone who slipped in under the radar and was using the private/personal message system to ask personal/private questions to legitimate forum members.    The good news is, the ne'er-do-well was dealt with before s/he could mass contact more members (and as far as I can tell, the idiot was dumb enough to start with yours truly as I haven't heard from any other active members).

Now would be a good time to remind everyone that there is a function in the private message system that allows you to report private messages to the administrators.  The feature shouldn't be used in a Brown Shirt kind of way, but rather as a way to notify us if you feel there is a real and serious problem going on in the form of harassment.  That in itself can be hard to define, though you'll know it when it happens to you.

I honestly don't know how many of you use the private message system - it's not something that can be turned off, but if you are using it, I hope you are using it wisely, safely, and in the manner in which it was intended.

Many of you have remarked how much you like actively participating in the forums because it is generally free of the Spammers, Flame Baiters, and Trolls - part of that is because of the rules that were put in place the first day the forums were activated, and the other part is because the forums are not visited as often by non-regulars.  I think I can safely speak for the rest of the Admins (including that one you haven't met yet) that we want the Major Spoilers Forums to be a fun and safe place for all, and if that means we need to tweak security settings or enforce rules a little more than usual, it ultimately should be seen as a way of keeping the playground safe from dangerous criminals and pervs so a fun time can be had by all.

Also, as Rodrigo has pointed out before - it would be a good time to check the privacy settings on your account to make sure that you aren't unnecessarily or unknowingly sharing personal information with the world that someone may exploit. I know I may seem like I'm coming off as overprotective and slightly paranoid, but I am the father of a three year old...

As always you can contact me via Private Message in the forums or directly via email (preferred).  Most of you who have, know I will get back to you promptly, though my answers may be short and to the point.

And with that part of the MacGruff PSA out of the way... You may now return to your regular forum activities...

The more you know. (music tag)

You could start here and work your way down through every thread. But you might find the Introductions are in Order thread to be more to your liking.  Smiley
