I was kidding Gaumer about X-Factor. As far as I know, it is a current ongoing series that is very good and Gaumer often recommends.

If I had extra cash I'd check it out.

It is an ongoing. They did a weird renumbering but the current run started shortly after House of M. It IS at like 60+ issues.

The economics is key.

I can't afford to drop even $20/week on a pile of "Part 1 of 6" of stories. I agree with Tidge there.

Also, I've always considered comic books as simply ONE way I read. Right now, I'm not buying any because I'm reading Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut (a 326 page, 12 chapter book I bought USED for $7). After I'm done with that, I may pick up the next Irredeemable trade...which costs $10.

When I buy books, I ALWAYS hesitate to spend as much as $20 for a single story. Most of the stuff I get is used for less than $10/book. Whenever I'm buying comics, although I am evil enough to buy the trade, I try to calm my conscience by buying it at my LCS, but I still can't bring myself to drop a lot of cash.

I love reading--I'm an English major, for heaven's sake--but I can't justify dropping $80/month.

Getting digital comics would be a possibility, but A) I don't like the idea of not OWNING the files I purchase (i.e., the Marvel subscription method) and B) I don't have an iPhone or iPad--which isn't insurmountable, but makes it more difficult to access stuff.

Anyway, what would make buy again would be getting a tablet PC (which I may pick up either end of this year or beginning of next...I'm not much of an Apple fan or an early adopter), an Android phone, or I get a HUGE raise.
