Although I'm not sure it is terribly realistic, I could see the writers giving Peter that sort of perspective. The "Uncle Ben" event could be used to explain that psychological outlook even though I find it a stretch.

I baked more; thought more.

How funny would it be if they got paid and it was like a big deal? Spidey bitching because he can't write-off a sewing machine for suit repairs because he didn't keep it in his office; or Wolverine trying to claim manicures as a work expense.

I bet there are more of these...

I'm sure Beast has a heck of a time keeping himself groomed enough to avoid shedding all over the furniture.  Probably has good old Prof. X make pet groomers believe they are working on a very, very large dog.   Just hope they don't get the paperwork wrong and acciddently neuter him.

Does Human Torch have fire insurance?

Does Namor have flood insurance?

Well it could be that his moral reason would be not being able to claim the money. Could also be that registration-maven Stark will only give that cash to heroes without secret identities.

I just can't buy the "moral reason". Sure, it sounds noble but it seems like saying police officers shouldn't accept money because they directly protect people.

The whole reason Peter became the crime-fighting Spidey was because of the moral reasoning.  Otherwise he may have stayed a gimmicky, showy wrestler or TV star or something.  Uncle Ben's death has had such a profound impact on him psychologically that it shaped a lot of who he became.

I agree with that, and I can see it, although I agree that its maybe a stretch to have Peter as poor as he is yet not take a few bucks for the little things, like food Smiley

But I don't think Spidey not taking money shows that the Avengers get paychecks.

Peter was guided back to his moral compass because he could have helped someone and didn't, costing him his Uncle Ben. It wasn't specifically because he was earning money using his abilities.

We all earn money by using our abilities. None of us get a paycheck just for being a nice person.

Let's not all forget that he isn't above using his persona as Spidey to take the photos that earn him a paycheck...when he does earn one...

What was it, Spider-man vs. Wolverine, where Parker called himself a ghoul for taking pics of a couple murdered during a robbery? He was there as Spidey, but the photos profited Parker.
