Just to point out, they didn't take Fraction off, Fraction decided to leave shortly after Brubaker rather than continue. Besides I thought Swierczynski did a decent job taking their place.

I may have to check him out then, I jumped ship when Fraction left. I guess I didn't care what someone else wanted to do with the book at the time.

I'm a Luke Cage fan too, but I will say I liked him better paired with Iron Fist. I don't think either should be pushed out to solo status as I think their quirky chemistry works well. I also hate that Cage is like the only "Avenger" who looks like a schlub. I mena a wife beater and jeans? Look, I read super hero comics so I accept the fact they wear costumes and have secret identities. This I will nail Bendis on. His love for thinking he has to update everything for fans of today. Give Luke Cage a costume and it is ok if you call him Power Man as well.

I agree that the skull cap, wife beater, leather jacket and jeans does not a costume make. Just for fun I'd love to see the yellow silk shit, and tiara look, just so Power Man would have a reason to whoop someone.

I think Cage's look would be fine in a different hero environment. But in the avengers he ends up looking "ghetto". And that's not cool.

I hate to say it, but I don't know that Luke would survive in a solo book.

He carried one for a couple years, then shared it with Iron Fist for about six more.

In the 70's yes. And kudos to him for that. It was a milestone.

Do you think the Luke Cage of today could carry his own series?

No, and he really doesn't need one, just like Vision never needed his own series all those years when he was on The Avengers, Cage is like that with The New Avengers, so as long as that is around I say keep him away from a solo series.

Some people seem to work best as a part of a group but not a solo act. Luke seems to be one of them. So does Kitty.

Yep.

But whether or not editorial will allow ANY book to get past six issues without stellar sales or a proven track record is in question...

I thought him becoming the leader of the T-Bolts would give him an in for his own book. How is T-Bolts turning out with Cage in it anyways?
