I saw the movie "8 Mile" and really liked it. But I can't find it on VHS or Betamax.

The myth behind the man

Swear to god hip hop and comic books was my genesis.
Atmosphere - Always coming home to you

Don't have any more of the top though the battle leagues have some good lines involving comics.

Mainly wanted to deal with this
I think you need to define the difference between Rap and Contemporary Rap (aka C.rap).  Old school was a university.  New school is the white trailer in the school yard.
Old rap > country
New rap < country
Emenime is the only one keeping any sembelance of the old days.
No. You're wrong. Eminem fell off for what 5 years? Yes recovery is pretty sick, but it's sick like Tical 0: the prequal. It's a solid peace. It might be more accurate to put it up with stillmatic, but I don't think it deserves that high praise. It's the same flow, same type of metaphors, the only difference is he's slightly more mature. He's talking bout his pain cause proof is dead instead of his pain that his mom was a dead beat.
But that's really just a side issue. New rap is no the gangster stuff you might hear on the radio. It's the Ryhmesayers crew Atmosphere, Brother Ali, and Eyedea (R.I.P.), POS and DOOMTREE.  Some of whom have been putting in work for ten plus years and constantly innovating. It's M.U.R.S. It's B.O.B. It's the offspring of Outkast, Common, BlackStar, The Roots, and Hieroglyphics.
And honestly alot of the gangsta stuff is still better than alot of country. T.I. > Taylor Swift.

On the album Full Circle by the Hieroglyphics there is one particular song that is filled with comic references. Ill try to post the name of it later. Heiro also have a roll playing song, again, Ill try to get the name for you at a later date.

One of the members of Hiero, Del the Funky Homosapien (rapped on Gorillas track Clint Eastwood) is clearly a massive comics book fan and has done an entirely sci-fi album with Dan the Automator called Deltron 3030. Its smart, funny and got some great tracks. Especially "Battlesong" where he has a rap battle with various lifeforms in different atmospheres.

Geek out folks!!!

B.o.B. - Past my shade.

ALSO

The next line for this rap is...
"Your my wonder woman, call me mr fantastic"

Stop...Now think about it.

It makes me smile every time!

Don't know how I missed this one.

Wonderman - Tinie Tempah

This is more incidental than a reference to comics but I really like UK rap and I recon Simon would like this song being a tv star and all that.

Check out Donald Glover's hip hop.  I don't know exact songs, but he is a self identified nerd and throws in whatever references he can.

Then there is always the entire Nerdcore genre.

The "Donald for Spiderman" lyric was a shout-out to an online movement to get Glover cast as the new Peter Parker.

I think not.

Also a new entry into the list

Childish Gambino - Freaks and Geeks
"I got some <like kittens> that was insane,
So insane it's an enemy of bat man"

And since we are talking about community related stuff check out this youtube.  It is the above song mashed up with community footage.  Also multiple comic's references within!
