I was wondering if anyone has read any of the newer Star Wars books.  The story I read was the Legacy of the Force series, in which *spoiler alert* Jacen turned to the dark side and tried to take over.

I'm not sure what the new series is called, but I was wondering if anyone thought that it was worth picking up in paperback.

Thanks.

I started with the series and read maybe the first 6. (Thrawn and the first Jedi Class) After that I dropped them.  Didn't really get to me.  Thought the pacing was too slow and had too much filler.

I have read a lot of the newer Star Wars books, I'm not up to date by any means but there are many I would recommend to any Star Wars fans. The New Jedi Order series is pretty decent for shaking things up and breathing some life back into the Star Wars Universe that was beginning to tell the same story over and over. I was not a big fan of the Dark Nest trilogy that basically said 'there is no light and dark side to the force'. Hated it actually. But conviniently they retconned that with Legacy of the Force.

Legacy has a bit more of intrigue mixed into the story, which can be slow I suppose. However it does a very good job of taking the paragon of light and slowly subtly changing that person into dark side user, in a way which is very believable. In the end it becomes very difficult to say just when this person actually 'turns'. To pick a bone, they did what the prequel trilogy should have done with Anakin Skywalker, and did so very well. I would say the series picks up very well by the end to the point where I read the last two books in about a week.
