Looking around other forums I've noticed a lot of Luke Cage hate and as a fan I don't really understand. Sometimes it makes me feel like I'm the only person who likes Luke Cage. In retrospect, I think most of the hatred streams from Bendis who obviously has a love for Cage. Do you believe this? Are you a fan of Luke Cage?

I AM a Cage fan and I thknk you are correct on all accounts.

Bendis' love for the character gave people who didn't know any better an excuse to not like him by association.

I even liked a lot of what Bendis did with the character (sans the haircut; Afro FTW but that's a gimme for me) if only he would have been able to do it out of the context of event after event after event.

He made the character relevant again but used all of his pages to push an event instead of pushing character development, to the point where Bendis then made me dislike the character because he just wasn't going anywhere.

It was always "oh my responsibility as a hero seems to be in direct conflict with my responsibilities as a parent". And that worked. The first few times.

His heart condition was an intriguing story-line too. Except it was better the first time during Fury's Secret War and dropped like it was hot to do nothing but push Osbourne as a badass. There's that event screwing up my story again.

So, no; you ain't the only Cage fan.

Definitely not the only Luke Cage fan. I have been a fan of his since the early "Power Man and Iron Fist" days. I still remember them fighting Chemistro and their first meeting with Daredevil.

After that, Luke seemed to be a background character for many years. Regardless of how well he was written, I am at least glad someone did write about him. I'm glad he didn't die so he can return next year. And I'm glad people talk about him, even if it's hateful. At least people know who his is now.

I am a fan of Luke. I like his team ups with Danny aka Iron Fist, but I think the problem is Bendis' practice of pushing him in every freaking comic book. It's Avengers, not, Luke Cage and the Not Avengers. Just give him a solo book, let him have his family life. Just don't force Luke down our throats.

I hate to say it, but I don't know that Luke would survive in a solo book.

I didn't hear very goo things about the Avengers limited starring Cage.

I think any character can hold their own book. Its just a matter of good writing and better marketing.

Maybe Luke can share a book with Danny.

Ohhh! I call shinanigans on that. This Powerman II guy looks like The Blur from Supreme Power. Where is the yellow silk shirt, chain belt, tiara, and the Afro.

Well for one, this ain't the 70s, so they made the new Powerman look like a 00's version I guess.

He most certainly does but I'm willing to give the mini a chance because I love Iron Fist.

But Iron Fist needs to get back to his own book, get Fraction on top of that. Or hell, give Fraction a shot at writing PM and IF.

I posted it in another thread but Fraction says he got an idea for Iron Fist at Comic-Con that would be fun for him to write and said he's working on pitching it. But really the sales of the PM&IF series will dictate if he gets his own book back.

That is a bummer. Danny had a good thing going until they took Fraction off of IF, and then it went into hiatus. I hope Marvel gets smart and gives Fraction back IF and with a little PM to boot.
