Something we all need to remind ourselves, every so often.

Define "most."  I hear that phrase thrown around a lot and usually it doesn't actually mean >25.  On a related note, have your read Fahrenheit 451?

Hatchet by Gary Paulsen

It is a quick read since it is about 200 pages, but it was a suprisingly well written story.   Also there are several spinoffs of this novel that follow the main character as he grows older.

Nope, but that was banned too. It was in more than 25, but I don't know the exact number.

I loved Hatchet, and another book that I read around the same age that I found very profound was Snow Fox.

Fahrenheit 451 was indeed banned, the irony being that it is about censorship.

Also try out The Outsiders and Candide.

I have one full bookshelf of books from my life I haven't felt the need to get rid of.  Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is my favorite, for non-fiction I love my David Hume.  And yes, my book shelf has a buch of "smart people" books on if from college to impress the ladies.

The Man Who Was Thursday by G.K. Chesterton - if you like a bit of surrealism, poking fun at paranoia and media scares, as well as good old fashioned skull-duggery.

Catch 22 by Joseph Heller, it's a great, hilarious book about the absurdity of war.

Pretty much any book by Neal Stephenson I can't recommend highly enough. Snow Crash is his "seminal" work, but Zodiac is hilarious (basically what if Hunter S. Thompson were an environmental activist), and Cryptonomicon is great if you like world-building.

Neuromancer by William Gibson is also awesome, though Idoru is my personal favorite.

I recently read Post Office by Charles Bukowski and I've got to say it was an awesome read.  Mostly just anecdotes about this postman, Henry Chinaski (from what I understand he's a fictionalized version of Bukowski) and some of the events are down right bizarre, horrible things no person should consider doing.  If anything, just read it for Bukowski's writing style. It's also a pretty quick read.

Well, judging by the vlogbrothers reference (DFTBA), you may want to pick up any of the lovely books by John Green! Smiley

Which ones have you read?
