Welcome to Major Spoilers: Rules of the Forums

Welcome to the Major Spoilers forum.  We're very happy to add this new feature for fans of comics and pop culture.  

Remember access to our forums is a privilege and not a right.  These rules are non-negotiable and are enforced by all moderators and administrators.

Here are a couple of things to keep in mind (updated January 1, 2011):
1) Each member is allowed one login account. Registering with multiple accounts is not allowed.

2) No threats to the site will be tolerated, and will result in an immediate ban.

3) No bigoted remarks will be tolerated, be they racial, religious, or otherwise. (3rd offense will result in a temporary ban. After that, a permanent ban.)

4) No nudity, be it in a linked picture, posted picture, linked website, or avatar.

5) No images in signatures. If you have an image in your signature, 2 PMs will be sent asking you to remove it. If it isn't done, it will be removed (image only, anything else in sig will be left as is).

6) No flaming. Name calling based on someone's beliefs, religious, political or otherwise will not be tolerated. This will boil down to the judgement of the moderators, not the intention of the post.

7) No post whoring. Posts must contain content (in other words, no one word posts or just smilies). Those that do not, will be edited or deleted. This includes "Woohoo! first post!" comments.

8 ) No thread jacking. Intentional mis-direction of thread topics will be deleted.

9) No SPAM. SPAM will be edited or deleted and promptly locked.

10) The locking, editing and deleting of threads and posts is up to the discretion of the moderators and administrators. Love it or shove it.

11) No EXCESSIVE "l33t sp34k." Also, no "Grammar Nazis." Do not criticize for misspelled words or improper grammar usage. Similarly, please try to be as proper as possible when typing.

12) All personal information posted in the public forums will be edited by the mods for security reasons. Just don't post it. That's what PMs are for.

13) Explain posted links. Please don't post a link with just 'Have Fun!'. Let everyone know what the link is for, and if it's safe for work.

14) No double posts. If you have something to add after completing your post, please hit the 'edit' button at the bottom of your post. Double posts will be merged, and multiple occurrences will warrant a PM.

15) Put threads in their proper forum. We have all these forums for a reason, folks. Please use them.

15) Harassment via Public Posting or Private Messages will not be tolerated.  What constitutes as "harassment" will be interpreted by the Moderators.

17) No copying and pasting of stories from other sites or sources. You may highlight a particular comment or statement, but copying and pasting complete articles is forbidden.  First offense will result in the post being changed, and a warning given. Subsequent breaking of this rule may lead to forum banning.

18) Major Spoilers will not allow posts that contain slander or libelous remarks.  These posts will be deleted, and may be cause for banishment.

19)  All forum rules where applicable also apply to private messaging. Abuse of the private messaging system may lead to censure, warning, temporary ban (suspension) or permanent banning.

20) The opinions expressed by those on the forums are entirely those of the poster, and do not represent the thoughts or views of Major Spoilers, unless they are from the Moderators and Administrators of Major Spoilers.

21) Major Spoilers will not be held accountable in any Intellectual Property lawsuits if someone else steals your ideas. Be careful what you post and what IP information you share.

22) Posting on the forums does not make you a recognized contributor to Major Spoilers.  The only people in charge of decision making are the administrators of the Major Spoilers site.   You are not allowed to approach a vendor or publisher and solicit free content and claim that you are writing a review for anything related to Major Spoilers (website, forum, podcast, social network, and so on).  You are not allowed to speak on behalf of Major Spoilers or the Major Spoilers Experience without express written permission from the owner of the site. Implying in anyway to anyone that you represent, speak for, or have permission to do anything in the name of Major Spoilers will result in a written warning, followed by a permanent ban from the site, and possible legal action.

23)  If you see a forum board you would like added, simply contact Stephen or Rodrigo.

24) Rules subject to change at the discretion of the Mods.

25) Permanent bans are a last resort and thought is given before implementing them. While we may consider lifting permanent bans from time to time this is a rare occurrence.

26) Finally, we are all here to have fun. Please remember this when posting.
