Yes I wanted to be a space pirate as a child.

Unless I'm mistaken, Captain Harlock appeared in Manga before Anime.
I think you're still in the ballpark.

Technically didn't originate in comics, but she WILL make the Kessel Run in under 12 parsecs. So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

This ecto? 1

Or this one? 1-a

Or this one 1-b:

The Ecto-Prime from the Scared Stiffs module (stretch limo version of Ecto 1with jacuzzi)?

Personally of all the ecto's 1 incarnations I like the Echo-ICCHI the best:

My whip of choice would have to be Doc Savage's 'autogyro'. Grin

Are we only counting vehicles or any means of transportation?

Brian mentioned Flash's shoes. I mentioned the Iron Man armor.

Does the Green Lantern ring count? Hard to beat that.

Sometimes, just out of nostalgia, I miss the old Avengers Quinjet.

Perhaps the worst idea that comes to mind is the Spider-Mobile:

Hey, who am I to talk smack on a person's choice of whip? I drive a mini-van...

Yea I never understood the Spider-mobile either. A character that swings through the streets on NYC more amazingly than any other character in comics needing an ATV is just plain greedy.

How about Thor's chariot, pulled by his goats Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder?

Well what if he has to go fight in the Arizona desert? Not many trees there.

...but in NYC...no need.

Maybe Batman Begins ripped off the Spider-Mobile to make the Tumbler.
