I think both Wolverine and Spider-Man seem to be able to be fit into any story mainly because they are so ubiquitous. They are used so often...everywhere...that it never surprises us when they show up.

Sooo, you're saying that the reason they show up everwhere is because they show up everywhere?

Yes, exactly. They are self-sustaining at this point; kind of like a virus.

The next major marvel event - it has been discovered that Spidey and Wolverine(and now deadpool) are all actually clones of the originals, built as a back up by Norman Osborn - the virus has gone UNNOTICED by heroes who, honestly, have a rather wacky reality as is.
Beware the attack of the Spideys and Wolverines(and now Deadpools)!!!
The original Spidey clones fight the new ones. The wolverine family(daken, x-23, sabretooth(is he alive again yet?) and the various weapon x copies) vs. wolverine clones!
Deadpool vs. his left arm!

It's deadpool. That would actually work.

As crazy as that is, it would sell. I mean really; Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Deadpool on the same cover?

He does have a point though.  They shoe-horned them into so many stories in the past because they're fan favorites that they've become a comon place thing.
