New Mutants is ending??   Huh

AFAIK yes. Sorry.

The next (last) arc is called Fall of the New Mutants.

And where has this information come from, pray tell?   Marvel has solicited it through September, and I find NO information on their site or in our press releases to support your assertion, sir.

Oh its all rumor and innuendo. Back alley whispers and tabloid hoopla that sort of thing.

I honestly have no idea what is going on with that book. Except that Nav loves it and I enjoy using that adoration for my own sick enjoyment.

I've never liked Cannonball either. Though Appalachian, like myself, I never thought he grew into a very interesting character.

I have, many times, stated that the New Mutants have more than proven themselves. They are far from "new" and deserve to be on a main team.

Illyana's teleportation and magic would be an incredible asset. And now that Dani has her Valkyrie thing going again, she's a definite heavy-hitter.

Unfortunately, the nature of comics and comics fans will make it impossible for them to ever make the main team...  They will more than likely ALWAYS be the Junior Woodchuck X-Men simply because we, as fans, hate change.

I agree with you, sadly because it is the fact of the matter.

I'd still like to see them mix things up and try change. I sort of like change.

They are doing it with the Avengers currently. Maybe the folks they got on the Avengers' teams are higher profile overall.

Or maybe the X-Fan is just a different animal.

Naaah, Bendis just likes to shake up the status quo.  Were he on the X-books, we'd have a team of Cyclops, Blade, Texas Twister, Luke Cage, Wolverine, Captain America and Snoopy.

Yet when the "all-new" X-Men came around in 1974 that seemed to go over fine. And later additions such as Rogue and Gambit caught on right away.

A lot of fans balked when Kitty joined the team way back. But I bet, somewhere out there, she has at least one fan.

I agree with your statement about people resisting change but I think a good writer like Whedon or Fraction could take Illyana or one of those other New Mutants and work them into the current team very well.

I agree with that.

I still think a mix up for the X-Team rosters could be awesome.

Look what Brubaker's done with Secret Avengers. Not a very A-List team IMO. Sure its got its names on the team, but so would ANY X-team that got shook up.

Fatomex on X-Force is a good start though.

I believe this came from the title of the next arc... "Fall of the New Mutants".  I don't remember where I read it but I thought I read somewhere that the New Mutants title was ending and another title was starting.  Much like X-Force, I think.  Isn't that one that just ended in the 2nd Coming arc, but is going to start again with a different team.  I think New Mutants might be doing the same thing.

X-Force is revamping and returning as Uncanny X-Force

But I have only heard rumor about NM doing the same thing; nothing from Marvel to make it official.
