Who is your favorite fictional detective (books, comics, manga, TV)?

There are so many out there.

Super detectives (ie Batman), child/teen detectives (ie Detective Conan, L and Near from Death Note), drug using detectives (ie Sherlock Holmes), gumshoe detectives (ie Dick Tracy), dumbass detectives (ie Sam and Max), Vampire Detectives (ie Angel), Secret Agent detectives (ie James Bond), Gentlemen Thief Detectives (ie Arsène Lupin)...and so on.

So who is your favorite? You do not have to be particular, you could just even specify a type.

To help, here is a list of detectives:

I like Sherlock Holmes. His logical mind and shrewd observational skills always impressed me.

Edgar Allen Poe's C. Auguste Dupin. He was doing the logical thinking before sherlock.

do we really need to specify 'female detectives?' I wouldn't put Olivia Benson and Harriet the Spy in the same category if I didn't have to.

Columbo! Mainly because I see myself actually using his methods of deduction in life...

I like Frank Cannon.  He charged his rich clients more so that he could give poor clients a break on his fees, and was played by the ever-awesome William Conrad, the narrator from Rocky & Bullwinkle.

After thirty years I still hear the theme to The Rockford Files clearly every time his name is mentioned.

Kate Beckett. I’m totally addicted to Castle. It’s my extra cheesy guilty pleasure with a side of Nathan Fillion.
