Simple; to the point; nice
You sound for country
You sound for joy; but sound praise
for your last day comes
I have the title but can anyone guess?

One of my favourite poets is Siegfried Sasoon, first wolrd war poet with real vitriolic humour that covered the topic brilliantly.
I write a lot of my own and present for your reading pleasure one of my very own.
I'm not a stickler for form as you may notice. but feel free to comment on it.
The Power of Love
Love holds curious power o’er all things,
It can free my heart and cause it to sing,
It can place a great warmth and light in my heart,
But love can also tear me apart.
It can force my eyes to well up with tears,
Hold me in its sway over all my years,
But what is Love? What is its power?
Why must it hold me in its great dark tower?
Who’s walls of stone a prisoner me make,
And force me to all plans forsake.
Is Love a prison? A cold dark cell?
Comparable to those pits of hell,
Inhabited by poor wretched souls,
Screaming in their burning holes.
Is Love worth the torment, hurt and pain?
Or should I examine Love again?
Love can be kind, be sweet, sublime,
It can make you ignore the passing time.
As sand it flits and falls through my hands,
Love’s power is hard for all to withstand.
Love’s nature is strange, unforgiving and fickle,
Love cuts you to the bone like some golden sickle.
It slices so deep you cannot resist,
When you heart is caught in loves strong fist.
It grips you with pleasure and holds you with pain,
Must I fall in love again?
Love can make you believe it has gone,
And the search for it will drive you on.
At the second you least expect it to,
Love reclaims its hold on you.
A Face you haven’t seen in years,
Will resurrect those ancient fears,
And your heart again a prison make,
With fresh stone walls for you to break.
But break them you must and break them you will,
You take Love like some irresistible pill.
When you do you may be certain, be sure,
That with Love you will find the cure,
To all life’s ills and all life’s trials.
You may even find it makes you smile,
Till like some over zealous clown,
You find that you can love and never come down,
From the heights that has soared you to,
You find but one thing left to do.
You embrace Loves hold embrace the stone walls,
And deep into Love your soul it falls.

You embrace
Love's,
hold embrace the stone walls,
And deep into Love your soul it falls.
In case you copy/pasted this from a master document, I marked the revision needed for grammatical clarity.
More importantly, I absorbed the work and I appreciated it.
When your line "Why must it hold me in its great dark tower?" was read, I was afraid you were banking off into something a bit cliche. But I was wrong.
What you did several times in the poem is make a subtle transition from one analogy on Love to the next using the phrasing in the preceding line. You did that with the tower to the stone walls and also with the mention of a pill leading to a cure.
I was impressed by that. You took us on a journey of all the analogies. I also find it poignant that we so often make grandiose analogies and metaphors on Love and you rather forced us to focus on those.
You hit several times onto the stone prison analogy, seemingly the more central theme. But the most moving line was the reference to seeing a face you haven't seen in years and how that affects you.
If I have any suggestion then, it might be to focus on the perpetual nature of a given love in that same manner. Bringing our minds to the haunting aspect of love, even if requited, could be a powerful thing.
It is quite good though. Thanks for posting it and I hope you write more.

Honestly thats some of the best feedback i've ever had and it's much appreciated. It was written a good few years ago now, and that copy came from a very very old blog i used to write So please excuse the spelling and grammar.
I have quite a lot more if i'm honest but some have been lost to the internet. Theres some on a site called Anylit.com under teh pen name Shaun (how original) and I'd post them but can't get to it from work so might once i've gotten home.

Oh green monster
You grow and grow
You need to be groomed
So I mow and mow
The gasoline smell
I drop with sweat
Send a concrete truck
I'll pave you yet

Through the fingerprints
on my window-
cloudless blue sky.
Not one of mine, but I like it.
Hate has no Love,
Just as Death has no Dove.
Couplet of mine.

Indian Meal Moths (5)
Infesting my cereal (7)
Now starving to death (5)
-----------------
They infested my house for so long
I had inspiration,
google was my station,
It told me what to do,
now all the moths are gone

MMMMMMMMMMM Indian Food!!
While we do cook Indian Food, the Indian Meal Moths, also know as North American High-flyer and Pantry Moth, are common in the Midwest. They have nothing to do with Indian Food.
