Seriously? Why would you subject yourself to that dreck?
(Says the guy who watched The Room last night for the 3rd time for no particular reason.)

I honestly couldn't tell you. I've tried watching it multiple times, and for whatever reason, I just couldn't get into it. I liked the Shakespearean dialog mixed with the modern setting, the acting was decent enough, but I dunno... every time I tried to watch it, I ended up turning off the DVD. Weird, I know.

It takes effort to enjoy but it's not the definative R+J because it's not in a theater.

I will not say R&J was a bad movie, I just didn't like it that much. I saw it when it first came out back in the day in the theatre with an old ex-girlfriend. I thought that it would be romantically cool and stuff like that (so is the mind of a teenager), but it was slow and the dialogue was odd. Other than that I think that it would have been a better "art house" piece than a mass distribute, but then how would it pay for all of those big names?

It is definatly art house and it's hard to appreciate, but I'm a Shakespeare fan and after 2-3 viewings I got it. You don't have to see this but it's cool. Leo's proformence is not a highlight. Sid the Sloth however...

I think i've only seen it once and thought that it was creative as hell. Mercrusio (sp) and Tibalt were the best performances in the film. John L. is a scarry as hell Tibalt.

It really took Leo a long time to be a good actor to me. The only film I saw him in that I would say he was good at was Shutter Island.

Mercutio in that movie is epically awesome, but Harold Perrineau is excellent in anything...

R+J is about how it's proformed and Mercutio is a deep part. The actor caught the humor and the sadness of the charecter and contrasted them skillfully. And I'd have to agree with Blackthunder01 about Leo.

nice review dexter102! Shrek was a film that seemed to slip under the radar until word of mouth got around. It was, and still is, an amazing film (5/5 from me). Unfortunately, sequels followed........and they got progressively worse (Puss in Boots=worst character EVER!) Fingers crossed the new film will buck the trend.

I like puss. I agree however that the sequals got progressively worse. I don't have much hope for the 4th but I'll go in with an open mind!
