Dex,
I will not disagree with you for your rating for 2001, since it seems very dated even for it's time (1968). Don't get me wrong it was a ground breaking film at the time, but the olny real thing I liked about the movie was the soundtrack.
Also what is next up for review Dex? Still considering High Fidelity?

Dex,
I will agree with you about the movie overall; however I think that some of the performances and individual scenes still stand the test of time (The one most prominent in my mind being the HAL deactivation scene)

dexter, I suppose this is a bit late, but I totally agree with you on 2001: A Space Odyssey. I saw the movie for the first time about 2 months ago, and between falling asleep for 15 minutes and then waking up for the acid trip light show/giant baby at the end all I could think was "WHAT THE F@!#!" Seriously...I just don't get why this movie is deemed as such a classic. I suppose for its time it was groundbreaking...and I guess I can see that point in terms of technical achievements and cinematography...but the story itself felt so disjointed between the seperate arcs...and overall wasn't that compelling. That said, I did enjoy the bit at the beginning with the monkeys. I'm telling you...put monkeys in anything and it will be a smash hit!  |

I think i've only seen the movie once and everything you said about it seems to be accurate. (By the way, I LOVE your 60 second reviews! It breaks up the show nicely and keeps everything on that geek/pop culture track still. Keep up the good work!)

After hearing the new review... I've never even heard of this movie. Sounds like it should be good but I have no oppinion because of my ignorance on the subject.

Moon is an excellent film. Sam Rockwell and Kevin Spacey really made it for me. Great review Dex.

I disagreed with the 2001 but I chalk it up to being old...I guess, IDK mileage always varies.

Duncan Jones (formally the artist Zowie Bowie) has the best dad EVER! I was listening to "Life on Mars" and realised Bowie's actual name is David Jones. How bland is that! And the film owes allot to 2001 (I don't blame you Gaumer) now go back and listen to "Star Man" you'll see many refernces to 2001. |
