I say to Jackson,
"That someone over there noticed you way before today. Be confident as a man and ask her out. "
I say to everyone else while giggling,
"No, I'm going to sit this out. Someone has to hold our stuff, right? "

{nice shot}
Undaunted by the loss of half your competitors, you fire the bullet with great accuracy. It strikes firmly and square on your target, making the midnight blue fabric ripple.
"Success! Excellent. T'Ning advances."
"To the line if you please, Mister Jett."

One step only toward the line and Donovan Jett has already let fly one of the inverted daggers on his upper arm.
{d20+2+4-2=22}
With amazing skill, the dagger hits home.
"A hit! All three competitors now advance to fifty feet!"

Faerun, an Elder Sister returns to you after leaving you momentarily in the staging area.
"You and young master Jackson..or, I'm sorry, Forge, have been approved and paid for the Brawl-For-All."
She takes a look at Vinnrog, scratching hair on his chest as thick as his head and then at Umbridge, who is cracking his knuckles as he turns a bit purple.
"May Illumian shed the light of mercy upon you."

Bedlor looks desperately at the target.
"By Kallum's bony elbow, 'ere goes nothin'"
Lets it fly...

You barely catch the target with your bullet. It looks for a moment as if it will tear through and fall.
The crowd lets out an Awwww
Your bullet clings desperately to the edge of the target, however. The target weaves precariously on its stand, then rights itself, the bullet still embedded.
The crowd jumps up and down stamping their feet for you.
"Another hit! Bedlor advances!"
"Your turn to match this feat, T'Ning!"

T'Ning unleashes his sling, squinting hard at the target. The bullet is propelled hard.
{1d20+1+2+1=18}
With a solid CRACK! the bullet strikes the target hard. The crowd, seeing that the very best is before them, cheer all of you with great pride.
"Success! We have quite a competition here!"
"Mister Donovan, this is yours to make!"

Jackson takes in your words with great intent.
"I understand, sir. I've heard those bald-headed people are the best hand-to-hand fighters in the world. I will be sure and watch myself."
"Maybe I can take the big men though. If I go down, it won't be without my best fight, I'll tell you that!"
"Thank you for your advice, Mister...?"

Donovan steps to the line. For the first time, he seems a little daunted.
He sets his mouth hard and takes a moment to compose himself. Pulling the dagger from his right side, he gives his best throw.
{d20+2+4-4=6}
Unfortunately, the throw just doesn't have the power needed to reach its target. It bounces once on the dirt about forty-five feet away before skidding to a stop right under the target.
"Awww...A Miss!"
"Donovan Jett is eliminated, folks."
Donovan stops dead, slowly turns around, and stares at first Bedlor and then T'Ning. He holds your gaze for a good five seconds each, saying nothing.
Then, he nods his head, seemingly in great respect, and walks toward the back. He waits at the door to the staging area, making sure every last dagger of his is retrieved, as the targets are reset.

The targets now set at their maximum distance, the crowd is on the edge of their seats to see this display of ranged prowess.
"Friends and neighbors, I give you the final chapter in the Bullseye Barrage, Under 60', Competition."
"Ladies and gentleman, give a sound of applause for Bedlor Enghart! The Dwarven Destroyer!"
The crowd stands and cheers you, one of their new champions.
{Go for it!}

Your bullet flies steady and firm from your hand. Unfortunately, at this range it is difficult to accurately gauge the diameter as you once did.
The bullet clears the target just to the right. It flies past it and slowly angles its way downward.
It lands into the hard ground of the arena.
"Awwww...."
goes the crowd in defeat.
Around you, you see some silver coins changing hands.
{See? Betting!
}
"Oh, that's too bad! I am afraid Bedlor Enghart has been eliminated, folks."
"T'Ning, if you make this shot, you will be the undisputed winner of the Bullseye Barrage, Under 60'. Your shot!"

T'Ning steps forward. This is his moment. If he can make this shot, he will be able to hold his head high to Master Ng-Lau, humility be damned.
He waits for the right feeling and then spins his sling, going for the winning shot.
{1d20+1+2+1-2=5}
Alas, this shot too is erroneous. The angle is poor at such a distance. The stone powers into the ground well short of the target, making only a little *paf* and a small cloud of dust.
The crowd releases a collective moan of disapproval as more Shyne change hands.
"Well, well, my friends! It appears both competitors have failed to make their shot!"
The crowd, and both of you, watch with baited silence while Elder Brother Montford and the City Tribunal huddle together, clarifying the rules for such a tie.
