"What is it bein' fer that request'in o' us? Ye needin' protection? Ye needin' us to get yer coin back? What? If ye be wantin' to earn me full trust ye'll have ta do more'en haunt us wit' dark tales. As the gnome be tellin' ye; these be dark times for one 'n all, and we be willin' to help ye, but many are wicked and hidden in shadow...ye be no different, eh?"

"They ran...off with the Crowns? Those mercenaries. If anything, they could leak your location."

To T'Ning:

"Yes. Harold Arcadie is the vice-president of the bank, as he always has been, but I own it. In fact, the concept of a banking system was my idea. I believe in time it will spread across Gallia, giving all citizens an opportunity to protect and utilize their hard-earned wealth."

"I bought this house and land from dear Delores Shively when I arrived. She was near her death."

"She had no need for my money. She only asked that I take care of her brother, Harold. I daresay he has wanted for little since."

"And...a cat, you ask? Why, no. I know of no one who has a cat."

To Faerun:

"Indeed. It seems that no sooner did one person break the Manor Ward then a half-dozen have done so. My family is no longer safe here. But Eleanor is frail and so distressed over our son. I cannot take her from here."

"There has been a man around town who gave Drade a box full of crowns that was coated in some sort of Fear Oil. There has also been a gray cat who has been reported to be in his company. That very same cat has been seen around town, near... occurances."

"I have skill with illusions, new found skill, but skill none of the less. I hope that is how I saw through the Ward. Then again, if I could see through it...I am surprised Master Landru hasn't of yet...or has he."

"Speaking of the Ward, I'm still curious how it actually works. We tried every trick our untrained minds could think of to subvert it, once Faerun alerted us that something strange was going on. Are we, in fact, actually where we appear to be? What's real?

[Gaumer]

"Oi, that vault we be savin' be yer very own? If this be bein' true then we already be comin' to yer aid once, man. And now ye ask it of us again, wit' not a bit o' thanks fer the first? Ye be askin' a might o' us, sir."

Sir Carrigan pauses and takes a breath as he looks at Bedlor.

"No, I do not care about my money. Such things have proven meaningless."

"I said I needed help and I meant it. I need what I had asked of the first three mercenaries: protection for my family - a protection I can no longer provide."

"I am asking that you guard my house. If the walls are breached then you may enter but, otherwise, I request the sanctity of my privacy."

"But I want you to guard the house from without, looking for any sign of trouble. This is what I would ask of you during the nights. I know Hyde well enough to know that is when he will make his move, under cover of darkness."

"They mostly come at night. ... Mostly."

"During the day I ask that you find all you can about who is after me, for they must already be here based on yesterday's events."

"If you will come here each day after dawn, I invite you to have breakfast with me and my family. We will then discuss what you have learned before setting out again."

[Navarre]

"In return, Bedlor...if this matters most to you...I offer you your rooms paid at the inn as well as a sum of 5 Crowns per day, each."

"Sir, my name is Liv Eia. I am very sorry to learn of the loose of your son. I feel I have bonded with Wesley, even though I never met him. I felt the same way about Forest Falls as he did this house, so I can understand why he left. If I am right to think we are... or well... were alike I hope you take comfort in knowing that I love my father very much, even though I left. "

I stand and walk over to the wallpaper and begin rubbing my hand up and down on the wallpaper. I think in my mind that I wish I could have met Wesley. We have so much in common that we could have been great friends. As I'm rubbing the wallpaper I smile and say, "Green is my favorite color."

"Sir, I want to help you bury your son. Do you feel the people after you are the ones that robbed the bank? I believe they have a cat spying on things around town, if the cat does not belong to you."

[Gaumer]

"Oi, ye take me wrong, sir. We no greed amongst us just the adventurin' vein runnin' thru. If'n that vein dig us to riches...so be it. Yer offer is grand, sir, but we seek a token of good faith rather than good riches. But...aye, yer deal be sound. If me friends be in agreein' we'd be happy ta be watchin' yer home fer ye."

"No, Liv, I have no pets. But you are surely correct that the bank robbery is connected to me. They are no doubt trying to find me by finding things connected to me."

"And, yes, green is the color of the House in which I was knighted in my youth. I was very proud of that and they were proud of me...then," he says remorsefully.

I gasp at the offer of more money per day than I've ever possessed in my life, but don't lose my senses over it.

"That's an extremely generous offer. If we take it, since we don't want to be drawing attention, would it be possible to obtain the coinage - at least, some portion of it - in courtlies rather than crowns? And - if I'm understanding this 'banking system' of yours correctly - you could arrange for them to hold the unused part, making it available to us as we choose?"
