The other man at the table clears his throat.

"You. Gnome. Are you going to block my table all day and yammer or were you signing up for something?"

"Maybe to get thrown in the targeting contest? HAR!!"

I hand over five of the courtlies that, hopefully, Liv gave me.

"Please sign me up for the targeting contest. As a contestant, not a projectile, if you would be so kind. Oh, nice pencil, by the way."

I glance at the pencil he was holding which has also inexplicably become a carrot, albeit one with pencil lead still in the core.

The man writes your name down on the List as you walk away.

"What the bleedin' hell???" you hear him exclaim behind you, as he realizes he's writing with a carrot!

"Oh great...T'Ning, don't get too caught up in the Surge. I annoyed many people the day I sparked."

On the way to the inn, I proceed to tell T'Ning a little more about Prestidigitation, explaining that it usually lasts for only one hour. Most changes he makes to objects end after an hour. I explain that he can do more than Change vegetables to vegetables, fruit to fruit, animal matter to other animal matter, and minerals to minerals. He can also raise and lower the temperature of objects to certain levels. He can make things damp or dry. He can gather small objects with a motion of his hand. He can clean, polish, or dirty and object. He can even change the flavor of an object. He can magically stitch with it, although if he doesn't have thread, the stitches will fall apart after an hour. He can also tie thread or rope together, make images in the air and on objects, and lift small objects. He can even create small little objects with practice.

I however neglect to tell him about Firefinger... that revelation is better given when he is out of his first Surge.

With humor and friendship pulling you from the troubles you've faced in the last couple of days, you take one last glance at the arena. Its packed seats and rising volume suggest an exciting time is in your near future.

But, for now, the thought of a late lunch is even nearer. You have a stomach to ease, items to purchase, and concerns for a new friend that need to be addressed in the armory.

{End of Chapter 5. Please make sure all currency is correct between characters, addressing in the OOC if needed.}
