T'Ning, you find yourself reunited with your friends in a dimly lit sitting room. They seem impatient, as if they have been waiting for a while, though not necessarily on you.

From somewhere you hear the ticking of a grandfather clock.  You look around but see no such device. An invention of the gnomes, few such time pieces are said to exist.

“tick - - tock, - - tick - - tock.”

“tick - - tock, - - tick - - tock.”

“tick - - tock, - - tick - - tock.”

I look with relief at each of my companions, confirming that they are, apparently, unharmed, and let go of my kama, for now. But all I can find to say is, "Huh."

Fortunately, your senses return with a shudder at the sound of a man’s voice. You blink in the dim lighting, noticing the room is somehow darker.

From beneath the closed door to your right, a sliver of light can be seen. Faerun hears the sound of chanting. Bedlor and T'Ning can make it out clearly, yet unfortunately can't understand the words. Liv hears nothing but the still air and the sound of crickets. {Natural 1, Liv. Sorry!}

The door slowly opens, without so much as a creak. The light of an open doorway, closed only moments before, casts a shallow beam into the dim room.

Silhouetted in the light is the figure of a man standing leaning slightly on a cane in his right hand.

He is a composed and striking man of perhaps fifty years. He was no doubt a dashing and handsome man in his youth, and while the difficulties he has faced may have dulled his passion a little, he is still a character who draws the eye of most every woman and many men who see him.

He stands about 6’ 3” though age has drawn his back just a bit. But his broad shoulders and well-muscled arms suggest that he was once a mighty warrior and still takes care of himself.

Still, he looks a bit drawn, as if maybe he has been sick. (Occasionally he is a bit wheezy, as he has developed a respiratory illness.)

His once raven hair is now highlighted with silver, and is worn long but pulled back gently back from his face, setting off his startlingly deep, light violet eyes.  His skin is very pale, suggesting he has not seen daylight in some time.

His previously sure step is now slowed by a cane of twisted mahogany, polished to sheen.  The cane is fashioned with the head of a lion, its eyes set with small emeralds. He wields it so effortlessly that it does not seem to indicate any infirmity.  He does not appear stuffy, but exudes the quiet confidence of a man who knows that he has seen his darkest days and survived to tell the tale.

You hear his voice, steady and assured.

“Welcome to my home. I apologize for keeping you waiting and the unseemly intrigue."

"I am Sir Peter Carrigan. ... I need your help.”
